In the first week of work, the site had been mostly cleared of the many, many trees. Walnut trees were set aside, and Lowe Products was called in with their giant wood grinder to shred the piles of "trash logs" that will be used for mulch.

Work will continue as
weather permits!
Site Work Begins!

After our fantastic groundbreaking ceremony on October 30th, Kinsley Construction moved in literally tons of equipment to begin work on road access, the retention pond, and the actual site of our new library.
Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns and to ensure we stayed in compliance with the West Virginia statewide social gathering limit, we were unable to invite EVERYONE to our groundbreaking ceremony as we had hoped. However, highlights of the event were captured on film! This approximate 24 minute video, produced and directed by the wonderful and talented Justin Duewel-Zahniser, can be viewed here (you will have to turn the volume way up!). Media coverage of this long-awaited celebration includes wonderful articles by the Chronicle, the Journal, and the Spirit of Jefferson.
Individual "site-seeing" tours can be scheduled. If interested, contact the library.
Lorena joined our Board in October with unanimous approval by the Town Council.
