Who Are These Masked Men?
Why it's none other than Board President Terry Kramer and Owner's Representative Chuck Hydorn at the new library site to meet and greet prospective project bidders.
Let the Bidding Begin!

We are very happy to report that eight experienced contracting companies who submitted prequal packages with the requisite A-305 information and corporate resumes have been prequalified by the library. The mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit phase is now complete, and we expect all eight contractors to submit project bids.

Sealed bid packages are due on Monday, August 17th, and the contract will be awarded after all bids have been examined.
If all goes according to plan, construction on the long-awaited
new library will begin in September.
A Special Side Note: Nearly all of the seasoned prequalified contractors have commented on the "wonderful quality of the documents" they have received to formulate their project bids. This is a true testament to our choice of the architectural and civil engineering team of Alexander Design Studio and William H. Gordon Associates - they are amazing!

That's Right!

Just because patrons can't come in the library (yet), that doesn't mean we can't host random and recurring pop-up library events during Shepherdstown Farmer's Market hours this summer! Our next scheduled
pop-up date is this Sunday, August 9th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. A selection of new children's, YA, and adult books will be available to check out.
Stay in touch with our Facebook page for upcoming dates and times.

In Remembrance

The library would like to dedicate this space to the memory of one of the most remarkable and best loved members of the Shepherdstown community - Mohsen Sadeghzadeh.

The library's association with Mohsen is largely known through our annual bourbon raffles. While they meant so much to us, our affection for this charming, irresistible gentle man went far deeper. We would often visit his store just to say hello and listen to his always entertaining stories. Mohsen was known as a man who would buy hundreds of items of winter clothing and then give them away to those in need. His incredibly big heart made our community a better place.
We were surprised and truly honored to have been named the beneficiary of memorial gifts in his name. We know that Mohsen loved the library - and we loved him. We will always remember his easy banter and infectious laughter, and we
will miss him every day.
