The Library's Second Annual Golf Scramble Tournament was a Classic!
Golfers from near and far joined us on a beautiful day in September on the links at Cress Creek for eighteen wonderful holes of golfing enjoyment. Incredible tee shots, many fantastic prizes, and delicious food and drink all made this day a huge success.
We would like to thank all the golfers who came out to play for our new library, our many generous event sponsors and prize donors, The Club at Cress Creek for hosting our tournament, and all the amazing volunteers who helped make this event possible.

Welcome Jack Eggleston, New Board Treasurer
In September, the library was very pleased to welcome Jack Eggleston as its newest Board Treasurer. Jack grew up on a farm outside of Harrisonburg VA, in the Shenandoah Valley two hours south of Shepherdstown. Countless childhood hours in the library after school instilled a life-long love of books and reading that continues today. After graduation from Harrisonburg High School, he studied liberal arts at St. John's College in Annapolis Maryland (the Great Books Program) and then earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Duke University.
He, his wife Emma, and their 3 children Grace (17), Vivian (20) and Benjamin (23) moved to Shepherdstown in 2016 to be closer to grandparents and extended family. Emma is a doctor with WVU Health Sciences in Martinsburg, and Jack works as a hydrologist for the US Geological Survey in Reston VA. He is excited to help the Shepherdstown Library as it constructs and moves into its new library building.
Libby Sturm is stepping down after many outstanding years of service on our Board. As President and, most recently Treasurer, Libby dedicated countless hours to helping the library advance its mission, oversee daily operations, champion the new library project, and so much more. She is so important that we are not going to let her go that easily. She has agreed to continue her presence on the Board in an ex-officio capacity and will continue to advise and act on behalf of the library while serving on several of our other committees. Thank you, Libby!
