Casa Grande, AZ (March 3, 2021) – The (City) of Casa Grande continues to aggressively advocate for increased, local Covid-19 vaccination centers and supply for its residents. Today, the City combined efforts with community partner Sun Life Family Health Centers, Inc., to offer additional vaccinations at its
Recreation Center near Peart Road. This endeavor provides residents with more opportunity and access to appointments and vaccine over the next few days.
According to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “COVID-19 vaccination is an important tool to help us get back to normal.” Vaccines are safe and teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. They may also help keep us from getting seriously ill or hospitalized, if we do become infected.
“Vaccination helps our community achieve herd immunity responsibly,” explained Mayor Craig McFarland. “Our partnership with Sun Life helps to get us closer to this goal which would, ultimately, enable Casa Grande to fully re-open and drive our economy forward.”
This type of herd immunity occurs when enough people are vaccinated to ward off a pandemic. Dr. Anthony Fauci, U.S. Chief Medical Advisor, believes that “if 75% to 80% of the population gets vaccinated, we could approach herd immunity by summer’s end and normality that is close to where we were before” by the end of 2021. Appointments are currently available through Sun Life now through Friday and, potentially, Monday and Tuesday until supplies are exhausted. According to Pinal County Public Health
guidelines, groups 1a and 1b-1 along with those 65 and older are now being vaccinated. Sun Life will continue providing vaccinations at their own facility, simultaneously.
“Sun Life Family Health Center works around the clock to serve and care for our local community, especially those most vulnerable,” said Samantha Reinhard, Director of Community Outreach. “Opening a joint vaccination location at the City Recreation Center helps us to immunize more people, faster.”
