Here's a look at the bridge along West Mission Road that runs over the trench. With work along the trench walls, flooring and bridges at all four railroad crossings completed, ACE officials are now focusing on mainline construction. Union Pacific crews expect to install new mainline tracks in the trench by mid-summer, allowing freight traffic to transfer from the railroad shoofly - or temporary track - onto the new permanent tracks in the trench.
In the meantime, a contractor for ACE will remove and replace the pavement along San Gabriel Boulevard from Valley Boulevard to Interstate 10 from July 10 to August 25. During this period, northbound and southbound traffic lanes on San Gabriel Boulevard will be intermittently closed for construction. The street will remain open, and at least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. More information about this project can be found
here.
