City hosts community meeting on the issue of mansionization
Meeting discussed standards for single-family homes
Last Thursday, the city hosted a community meeting to address the issue of mansionization and the development standards for single-family homes. The trend of mansionization, or the practice of building or modifying a home in a manner that outsizes the surrounding neighborhood, has garnered resident concerns in recent years. In response, the city is working on revisions to the zoning code that will curtail the trend of mansionization.

You can learn more about last week's meeting here.

City hosts National Night Out in the Mission District
Yearly event celebrates unity and crime prevention
This year, the city celebrated National Night Out in the heart of the Mission District. Residents from across the community joined the San Gabriel Police Department along with several local organizations in a show of unity against crime. While the event did experience some slight drizzle, residents were able to enjoy the night with free drinks, hot dogs and hamburgers.

City welcomes Adam Yang to the City Clerk's department
Yang will serve as City Hall's new greeter and translator
Last month, the city welcomed Adam Yang as the new administrative assistant for the City Clerk's department. Yang will serve as City Hall's new greeter, providing services in both English and Mandarin. In addition, Yang will also provide translation services to other city counters who require a Mandarin translator.

Yang comes to San Gabriel as the city continues to renovate City Hall's lobby to be more customer-centric. In the coming weeks, a new counter workstation will be built in City Hall's lobby that will allow Yang to meet and assist residents with greater ease.
