Dumpling & Beer Fest is tomorrow night
Purchase your beer tasting wristband online before the event
This Thursday, the City of San Gabriel is celebrating its 2nd Annual Dumpling & Beer Fest, a twist on Oktoberfest, with lots of tasty food, craft beer, live music and more! 

The Mission District will be packed with 17 food vendors and more than  16 craft beers on tap, including selections from Anchor Brewing, Angel City Brewery, Bear Lao, Coronado Brewing Co., Iron Triangle Brewery, Sapporo, Singha, Unibroue, Lagunitas Brewing Co. and Bootlegger's Brewery.

Admission to the festival is free. Beer tasting wristbands can be purchased online from Eventbrite, for just $30 for unlimited tastings and $20 for limited (16) tastings, plus fees. If they do not sell outline, you can purchase wristbands at the door for an additional cost. Food will be available for purchase from individual vendors at the event. Free parking will be available around the Mission District.  

  News from City Hall
City participates in Voter Registration Day
For the first time ever, the City Clerk's Department participated Tuesday in National Voter Registration Day. 

In an effort to inform residents about the importance of voting in national, state and local elections, the department hosted booths at Hawaii Supermarket and the San Gabriel Library. The city partnered with Asian Youth Center for this event.

In total, volunteers registered 55 new voters. The event was also a chance to raise awareness about the city's local election on March 7, 2017.

City seeks applicants for commissions 
The city is accepting applications for vacancies on city commissions, a great way for residents to get more involved in the community.

The Civil Service Commission has one vacancy and the Design Review Commission has one vacancy, but the city will also accept applications throughout the year for all commission positions.

  Mission Playhouse
Playhouse hosts costume sale on Oct. 1
O n Saturday morning, October 1st at 10:00 a.m., the Playhouse will host a "Treasures From the Attic" costume and clothing sale

Costumes, hats, wigs, shoes, fabrics, notions and accessories will be for sale. Fill up a brown paper bag for $10.  Wear comfortable shoes and bring cash. Do not bring large backpacks or purses.

The sale will take place in the backstage costume and wardrobe rooms. Enter through the metal stairs behind the theater.

Award-winning pianist plays this weekend
This Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m., Nepo & Hanyi will present International award-winning pianist Chen Sa in concert. 

Sa has performed with premier orchestras across the globe and will captivate audiences with works from Debussy and Liszt. Ticket prices are $25, $35, $45.

Enjoy Indian music & food on Oct. 9
The Mission Playhouse and The Music Circle will present "Partha Bose & Indranil Mallick" on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 5:00 p.m. 

Take a musical journey to India with enthralling classical music from internationally renowned artists Partha Bose (sitar) and Indranil Mallick (tabla). Delicious samosas and chai tea will be available for purchase.

CONSTRUCTION ALERTS: 
All four bridges at Del  Mar Avenue, Ramona Street, Mission Road and San Gabriel Boulevard have been completed over the trench, and are now open to traffic following staggered closures. Work will continue through next year on the aesthetic features on the bridges, including sidewalks, pedestrian barriers and lighting, but will not significantly impact traffic. Businesses along the ACE route are open and ready for customers, with no delays or detours.
