Reduce, Reuse...Re-light!
We're pretty sure "spend two hours trying to replace one broken bulb in a string of 300 lights" never made it into the lyrics of any holiday song. Make your holidays merry and bright with some help from the Waste Campus. Drop off any worn out, burnt out, or unwanted holiday lights and extension cords in the festive cart in front of the office at 1873 Bench Street from now until January 11, 2020. Happy holidays!

We call it "Minne-snow-ta" for a reason. Winter brings snow--and snow emergencies. How does the City decide when to call a snow emergency, and what happens once it goes into effect? Find out in this special

Changes Honor He Mni Can-Barn Bluff
A partnership between Red Wing and Prairie Island Indian Community
Good developments are happening on Red Wing's landmark, He Mni Can (Heh-Meh-NEE-Cha]-Barn Bluff. This fall, in partnership with archaeologists from the
state Tribal Preservation Office, workers re-located trails away from Native American mounds and made paths more stable and sustainable. This summer, a new history and cultural area will be built at the bluff's base to welcome all and share the history and memories of this sacred space. Click

Kindness in Our Community:
One Story at a Time
The Grinch--that green grump,
He snarled and sneered,
But thanks to your kindness,
He was (secretly) cheered.
Just like with the Grinch, one act of kindness can make a difference. Have you seen or experienced an act of kindness recently? The Red Wing Police Department wants to hear about it! Through its “An Act of Kindness” program, the RWPD wants to recognize one or two people whose kind actions have had an impact in our community. Learn more about the program
here and
submit your story by 3 p.m. on December 26.

There's a New Commission in Town (Soon)
By unanimous agreement, the City Council has voted to create an Arts and Culture Commission. Proposed by the Mayor's Arts and Culture Task Force, this Commission will help Red Wing reach the arts and culture goals of our
2040 Community Plan. There's planning yet to do, but once the Commission is ready to go, we'll report back with how you can get involved.

Earn Dollars While Counting People
What if we told you a major employer was hiring in our area for $18 an hour, with totally flexible hours, and you could work out of your home? No, it’s not a gimmick, it’s the Census Bureau, and they’re hiring now. The Census Bureau is looking to hire hundreds of thousands of people across the U.S., including right here in Goodhue County.
