Old West Main Street Update
More changes are in store for the Old West Main Street reconstruction project. Due to several recent developments at the state level, the project will be done in two phases spanning two years instead of one. The first phase will focus on reconstructing Washington Street to Highway 61/Main Street from late July to late fall of 2021. The second phase will reconstruct the west half of Old West Main Street from Buchanan Street to Washington Street between spring 2022 and late summer or early fall of 2022. Read the report here. Then stay up to date with the latest developments by subscribing to the Old West Main Street project newsletter.

Strike up the band! Thanks to two local philanthropic organizations, downtown will soon be even more fun. As part of the new, temporary Sculpture Walk coming to downtown this June, two of the art pieces will be permanent gifts to the community. The Jones Family Foundation has generously donated "Jake on Bass" for Central Park, and the Albrecht Poss Family Foundation has donated "Maestro" for the Sheldon Theatre Lawn. Both of the musically interactive pieces will complement seven other rotating sculptures throughout the downtown area. A huge thank you to both family foundations for these wonderful gifts that make us smile.

Park Shelter Reservations are OPEN!
It's easy to reserve a park shelter.
Planning a graduation party? Park shelters are available for reservation. Every year, park shelters are in high demand, so don't wait if you want to claim one for your spring or summer plans. New for this year, the City Council voted to approve a change to the size and type of events that will need a Private Use of Public Property (PUPP) application. However, most reservations still won't need an application. Check out the park shelter availability calendar and request forms available online, and call Public Works at 651-385-3657 with any questions.

Chickens & Bees: Take Our Short Survey
Red Wing City Council will be considering later this year whether or not to approve beekeeping and raising chickens in the city limits. Before they make a decision, Council members want to hear from YOU. The two proposed zoning changes would include items such as limiting the number of chickens and bees and keeping a certain distance away from the side and back property lines of a lot. The City's zoning inspector would do enforcement. Please take our short survey online. You can also print a copy of the survey and mail it back to us. Results will be reported in May. Questions? Email us here.
