Need a Date? Try the Library!
A book display at the Public Library
Would you go on a blind date for Valentine's Day? Give it a try at the Red Wing Public Library. You won't be able to judge these books by their covers--each one is colorfully wrapped with only the first line of each book giving a clue of what might be inside.
Drop into the Library to pick one up and who knows--you might just fall in love.

Let them know you're coming!
(Encouraged, but not required.)

Does your family utilize Bluff View Park? It's the one located next to the Colvill Family Center on East Fifth Street. If you do, we want to hear from you! Improvements are coming to the park this year and Live Healthy Red Wing, the City, and other organizations want to give residents a chance to weigh in on the improvements. There are two upcoming listening sessions and both of these family-friendly events will offer food, refreshments, and childcare free of charge to attendees, as well as door prizes.
Don't miss this opportunity to help shape the future of this East End community space. Want to know more? Email Patrick Ramaker, Public Works Superintendent.
Working Towards Zero Deaths
The Towards Zero Deaths (TZD) team of Southeastern Minnesota believes that even one traffic-related death on our roads is too many, and they work year-round to support that belief. Learn what they're doing to make our area roads safer, and how you can help them reach their goal.

A Project Public Hearing is scheduled for March 11, 2019, for any residents who would like to learn more about the project and plans.

Excellence in Financial Reporting
Ten Years Running
Logo of the Government Finance Officers Association
Ledgers, spreadsheets, and databases, oh my! These things may not excite the average person, but for the Administrative Business Department, they read like poetry. As a matter of fact, they've just won an award for the tenth (tenth!) year in a row. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association. It's the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and it honors those governments whose financial reporting is transparent, accessible, and easy to understand. They're already working on ways to get more citizen input on our upcoming budget processes, so watch for more details to come.\
Talking Less Trash
Single Sort Recycling Forum
February 27, 6:30-8:30 pm at the Red Wing Public Library
The single sort discussion at the Red Wing Public Library is fast approaching. This event is an early opportunity to learn about the single sort recycling program coming to Red Wing. A panel of experts led by Deputy Director of the Solid Waste Campus, Jeff Schneider, will be present to talk about the upcoming recycling change and answer questions.
All in a Day's Work
Image of City employee Kelsey Gilbertson
Over at Public Works, Kelsey Gilbertson is the unofficial director of first impressions. As an office clerk and receptionist, she's one of the first to welcome visitors in the door or assist callers. Her bright smile reflects one of the best parts of her job: talking with everyone who stops in or calls Public Works. In fact, prior to her current position, she was one of Red Wing's first Park Naturalists and enjoyed working with people so much that she decided to stay on in a new role.
Kelsey was officially introduced to the City Council earlier this week, having completed her six-month probationary period with the City. Way to go, Kelsey, and we're so glad to have you aboard!
