Welcome to the new City Beat newsletter
Former Council Weekly has new name and digital format
Today marks the official launch of the new and improved weekly email newsletter from the City of San Gabriel: City Beat. With the new publication, which replaces the Council Weekly, the city will use Constant Contact to bring city news directly to subscribers' inboxes with a clean, easy to read look that matches the newly redesigned website.

Each week, the newsletter will feature a summary of the week's news, which is posted regularly in the new website's "City News Center" at  www.sangabrielcity.com. The City Beat stories are designed to be concise, with the option to click the "read more" link at the bottom to find the full, in-depth story.

The city aims to continue to bring residents and business owners interesting stories from their thriving community, along with important updates and alerts about the latest events and other happenings, including emergencies, in San Gabriel. Submissions for feature stories and event notices are welcome, just email  [email protected].

With the new format, it's even easier to subscribe to the newsletter, and the city encourages everyone to sign up to ensure that they stay informed on their city.

Summer Nights series offers free concert with Bumptown
Summer Nights are never ending in San Gabriel, and this Thursday community members can enjoy a free concert featuring Americana tunes from band Bumptown.

Bumptown was a hit at last year's concert, and the group describes itself as "a high energey dance band committed to bringing happiness to the stage with music that feels good."  The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. at Vincent Lugo Park, and is a great opportunity to grab a blanket and a picnic dinner for a fun, free evening under the stars with the family.

Brand new this week, there will be two food trucks at the event as well offering dinner and dessert.
