City Commission approves $50,000 in Community Enhancement Grants
Williston Economic Development - The Williston City Commission has approved up to $50,000 from the Williston STAR Fund’s Community Enhancement Grant program for 23 projects in the Williston trade region. Each year, the commission allocates up to $50,000 for nonprofit groups and organizations to fund activities and projects that improve the quality of life in the Williston area. Read More

1 Million Cups to feature Power Play Project February 5
Williston Economic Development - A group of Williston residents is spearheading efforts to build a multi-rink hockey facility in town. The Power Play Project will present at 1 Million Cups on Wednesday, February 5 at 8:30 a.m. at the Teton Lounge on the Williston State College campus. The meeting is free and open to the public. The Power Play Project was recently featured on the Williston Works Podcast with host Shawn Wenko. Wenko is the executive director of Williston Economic Development. Josh Kringen, one of the founders of the Power Play Project, told Wenko that the group organized about one year ago to bring more sheets of ice to Williston. Read More
Gonzaga University seeks to place Interns in Williston
Williston Economic Development - Gonzaga University (GU) is preparing for its 8th Annual GU-Williston Summer Internship program. Williston Herald releases 20 Under 40; Banquet March 6
Williston Herald - The Williston Herald has announced its latest group of 20 Under 40 nominees: Ryan Agnes, Wyatt Black, Jake Germundson, Micki Hinricksen, Kristin Iverson, Chris Jundt, Audrey Kalil, Heidi Lee, Matt Lierz, Nick Lippert, Rachel Lordemann, Tanner Overland, Andrea Placher, Alan Roness, Eric Rooke, Katie Shannon, Abby Siewert, Amanda Simard, Allayna Stevens and Alex Vournas. City Commission acknowledges Comprehensive Housing Action Plan
Williston Herald - T he city took steps towards improving the housing situation in Williston with some key votes at Tuesday’s commission meeting. Development Services Director Mark Schneider brought the items forward (pictured at right), which included requests for approval for the acknowledgment of the Comprehensive Housing Action Plan, the establishment of a Housing Committee and for housing incentives. The commission voted unanimously to acknowledge the report. The report will be available via the city’s website under Development Services. Read More
New Housing Development readies in Watford City
Roundup - Watford City RE/MAX broker and developer Paul Ficara has begun developing the Stepping Stone golf course community to provide new, custom built residential homes to families in the area. The 144 acre residential subdivision is located in close proximity to the W atford City  High School and new  Watford City  Elementary School. Read More
New Town moves forward with Rec Center Plans
New Town News - New Town got a step closer to building a recreation center that will combine a 79-seat theater, eight lane bowling alley and an arcade and concessions on Main Street. The New Town City Council authorized construction manager Consolidated Construction to seek bids on the $6.5 million project. Read More
Online Boutique transitions to Store Front in Watford City
Roundup - What once started as a love for fashion soon turned into a successful business. The Badlands Boutique, located directly across from Napa Auto Parts,  Watford City , ND, sells women's apparel, purses, jewelry, coffee cups, and hats. It opened up as a storefront boutique in June 2019. Ashley Lee, owner, and operator of Badlands Boutique (pictured at right), started an online boutique three years ago, and it was a big success, so she decided to open it up as a storefront boutique in  Watford City. Bakken Shale Gas Production projected to climb 10 Percent in 2020
S&P Global Platts - North Dakota's Bakken Shale gas output increased by 20% in 2019, and the latest analysis shows it growing another 10% year over year in 2020. Due to limited downstream access, the additional production looks to take a greater share on Northern Border Pipeline. Read More
