North San Antonio Chamber Members and Partners,
This past Saturday, June 5th, the San Antonio City Council run-off occurred with a voter turnout of just over 10%. Four new Councilmembers were elected including Mario Bravo (District 1), Jalen McKee-Rodriguez (District 2), Phyllis Viagran (District 3), Teri Castillo (District 5). Incumbent John Courage defeated Patrick Von Dohlen for District 9.
The new San Antonio City Council will be the most progressive to date. We invite all City Councilmembers to work with the business community with the understanding that their district constituents are not only residents but also business owners in the community. The North SA Chamber will work hard to encourage and inform Council on the issues important to our members.
Businesses make up the fabric of San Antonio by providing the jobs and paychecks that drive our prosperous local economy. Ordinances and mandates that could potentially hinder businesses' ability to grow and recover from the pandemic should be carefully considered and their impacts assessed by the new City Council.
We're looking forward to fostering relationships to create a collaborative, open dialogue with City Council. As a first step, last night, we welcomed our new City Council at The Red Berry Estate. We're hopeful about how these next two years will play out and interested to see the stance the new members will take on business-related items.
