Here are some of the stories we are following this week. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for up-to-the-minute news.
-
Colorado Springs City Council recently had the opportunity to improve the quality of life for residents in the city, and ban the practice of camping in vehicles. So, how did they vote? In the face of aggressive opposition to a vehicle camping ban, they failed to enforce basic civic decency and rejected a ban. If you parked your RV on the street and lived in it, or pitched a tent on the sidewalk, you would be fined or worse. If you are a vagrant and do the same, you get a pass.
-
Colorado Springs City Council is discussing a proposal to create “diversity” housing, and also to build more public restrooms downtown. Do you think the restrooms, if built, will be used by vagrants to use drugs?
-
Colorado Springs Utilities jumped into the fiber-optic broadband business because it could offset any costs with ratepayer money. They are now affected by problems, such as lawsuits and construction delays. Who do you think will pay to resolve these challenges?
-
One petition signature gatherer, who was circulating petitions to get El Paso County Commissioner candidate David Leinweber on the ballot, was found guilty of falsifying signatures. He has been sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation for forgery.
-
The taxpayers will be providing Colorado citizens with a rebate if they take government-approved “clean energy” measures, such as replacing gas appliances with electric, and installing heat pumps.
-
Governor Jared Polis is attempting to lower auto insurance rates in Colorado by micromanaging drivers more. He wants to see more speed cameras and DUI checkpoints. No word on whether he will combat auto theft, but knowing him, car thieves will get a pass.
-
Colorado Parks and Wildlife will continue with the wolf restoration project despite both public and federal pressure to pause or cease this ridiculous and abusive program. Even residents in Washington state, which has refused to give wolves to Colorado, are laughing at Colorado.
-
In cost-of-living news this week, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission is raising the surcharge you pay the state for using your phone. There is no end to the relentless chipping away at your paycheck.
-
Denver is in the news again this week, and that is never good. Denver is ranked as one of the top ten most “sinful” cities in the nation. This study focused on things like violent crime, vanity, laziness, and greed. Denver did very well in these areas.
-
Denver International Airport is growing, and officials want to power the growth with nuclear energy. Residents in neighborhoods around the airport are not very interested in having nuclear energy near them.
-
Colorado Attorney General and gubernatorial hopeful Phil Weiser is obsessed with President Donald Trump. He has sued the Trump administration 41 times so far. Weiser is an example of the class of bubble-dwelling leftist politician who was groomed his entire life for a role in government, and has never had a job outside of government. And never will.
-
Speaking of bubble-dwelling leftist politicians, our current crop of these has made such poor decisions over time that nobody wants to come to live in Colorado anymore, except for illegal aliens. Denver, for example, is one city people really don’t want to move to anymore.
-
Also, thanks to these radicals in government, Colorado ranks as the number one state for inflation. Equally troubling is that Colorado ranks 3rd in personal debt. Residents of Colorado are struggling financially under the burden of the Democrat-led government.
