Safer At Home Order Extended to May 15, 2020
On Friday, April 10, the L.A. County Department of Public Health extended its existing "Safer at Home" order through May 15, 2020 . This is to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19. Everyone should continue to stay home as much as possible, and only leave home for essential activities. Non-essential businesses must remain closed for the duration of the order. You can read the updated order here. Please review it thoroughly.
Face Coverings Required at Essential Businesses
Additionally, starting Wednesday, April 15, essential businesses must require the public to wear a cloth face covering when entering the business. Please review this guidance from County Public Health regarding face coverings. Please also review Face Covering Guidance from the CDC. Face coverings can help prevent you from spreading COVID-19 to others. These face coverings do not protect you from others who may be infected. Therefore, face coverings are not a replacement for staying home as much as possible, social distancing, and washing your hands often. Please do not purchase N95 and medical-grade masks.

Also as of Wednesday, April 15, all essential businesses will be required to provide all employees who must be around other employees and/or the public with a cloth face covering that they should wear while performing these duties. Essential businesses are also required to provide a plan that explains how they’re implementing physical distancing and cleaning requirements in their workplace. Please review the Safer at Home order for information on this requirement.
Important Updates
The City of Signal Hill is closing park shelters this weekend (April 11-12) at all City-owned parks to discourage in-person congregating. If you're celebrating holidays this weekend, please continue to stay Safer at Home and celebrate with your loved ones remotely. The parking lots at Hilltop Park and Discovery Well Park are currently closed. Gathering in public, including at parks, is still prohibited under the County's Safer at Home order. Our parks remain open, but everyone must maintain six feet of physical distance from others at all times.

COVID-19 testing continues to prioritize those who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Your health care provider can offer additional guidance on whether testing might be necessary. Learn more about L.A. County drive-up mobile testing sites. See if you are eligible for a test and register here.
New Resources
It's a tough time for our mental health and well-being. Join the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health for a virtual town hall via Skype on Monday, April 13 at 2 p.m. for helpful information regarding COVID-19 mental health issues. Visit LACDMH online for a link to the Town Hall. E-mail your questions before the call to COVID@dmh.lacounty.gov.

Starting today, April 10, a new state program aims to provide doctors, nurses and other critical front-line health care workers access to no-cost or low-cost hotel rooms. By providing hotel rooms in close proximity to medical facilities, health care workers can avoid potentially spreading the virus once leaving their shift by selecting to stay in one of the pre-identified hotels across the state.
