Upcoming Community Meetings for R3 Zoning Updates

An update to the R3 Zone is a key part of the City's efforts to create more opportunities for housing in Mountain View. This zoning update may also help new development proposals to better address neighborhood conditions.

Join us for workshops to share your ideas about the R3 Zoning District in each part of Mountain View and help envision the future of your neighborhood.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, July 19 – Monta Loma/Farley/Rock
  • Monday, July 25 – Moffett/Whisman
  • Tuesday, Aug. 2 – San Antonio/Rengstorff/Del Medio
  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 – Central Neighborhoods
  • Thursday, Aug. 11 – Springer/Cuesta/Phyllis
  • Tuesday, Aug. 16 – Grant/Sylvan Park

All meetings will be held by Zoom from 7 to 9 p.m. To join the meeting on the dates above, go to MountainView.gov/R3workshop.

What's Next for the Housing Element Update

Based on the City Council’s input at a June 14 Study Session, staff revised the Public Review Housing Element Draft and submitted the Draft Housing Element to California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) on July 1 for a 90-day statutory review period. The Housing Element team will revise the Housing Element to respond to HCD’s comments and present the Final Housing Element to the Environmental Planning Commission and to the City Council for final adoption.

The HCD Draft Housing Element, Sites Inventory Map and downloadable features are available on the project website at MVHousingElement.org

For any questions about the Housing Element process or to request a meeting with your community group, please email Ellen Yau, Project Planner. To sign-up for project notifications, use the MyMV tool.
