Spring Forward

Daylight Saving Time starts on Sunday, March 10, at 2am, so it's time to spring forward. Make sure to set your clocks forward one hour and remember to replace all the batteries in your smoke detectors.
Ready to Hit the Streets

On Monday March 4, St. Joseph Transit hosted a ribbon cutting celebrating the first of nine new buses going into service. The new buses will be going into daily service over the coming weeks. The new buses will make for nicer amenities for patrons and fewer breakdowns. During the ceremony, Andy Clements, director of public works, spoke about how excited department staff is to have these new additions in the bus route rotation. This is the first of two phases in the next couple of years as the department will be adding more new buses to the fleet while also gaining increased services.
Have Fun Indoors

While the cooler temperatures are still keeping us indoors, it's a great time to experience a variety of indoor activities to enjoy at numerous parks department facilities. Here are just a few places to check out when making weekend plans:

The Civic Arena has something for everyone in the coming weeks. From trapeze artists swinging high in the air during the Moila Shrine Circus to a close look at some classic cars at the Midwest Motor-Rama event, the arena is the place to be.

The Missouri Theater offers visitors a chance to experience a variety of cultural and performing art showcases on the stage of this historic theater.

Don't let a little winter weather stop you this season from practicing your swing as Fairview Golf Course has sign-ups for golf simulator sessions. Guests can also watch cornhole leagues compete.

Consider spending several hours with your family exploring nature and history at the  Remington Nature Center where fun is mixed in with education. Take part in the scavenger hunt around the center, enjoy some bird watching overlooking the Missouri River or participate in one of many special events.
