Vaccine Clinic

The city of St. Joseph Health Department will be hosting the annual free vaccine clinic on Tuesday, October 12, at the Civic Arena, 100 North 4th Street. This year's clinic will offer both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines, which will run from 9am-noon or while supplies last. Patrons of the clinic will enter the Civic Arena using the lower-level entrances facing Felix Street. Parking is available on the surrounding streets or in public parking lots to the east and west. There will not be a drive-up option. For more information, call 271-4725 or visit the city's website.

The clinic is open to those who reside and/or work in Buchanan County. The health department clinic will provide the flu vaccine to those six months and older and the COVID-19 vaccine to those aged 12 and older. Those with Medicare, Missouri HealthNet or privately insured are asked to present their card at clinic registration. No out-of-pocket expense will be charged.
Civic Center Park Balustrade Repair Project

Civic Center Park, located near City Hall, provides an enjoyable green space to the downtown area. However, the stonework and balustrades in the park are occasionally damaged due to a variety of factors, including weather, age and accidents. A recent event caused damage to a small section of the balustrades.

The Civic Center Park 2021 Balustrade Repair Project aims to keep the park looking serene and beautiful. This project will consist of repairing and replacing a stone balustrade section, top rails and various stonework repairs near the intersection at Frederick Avenue and 10th Street. An approximate 20-foot-long section was damaged and had to be removed, leaving a large area which needs to be replaced. The repair of this section will consist of removing all damaged masonry and mortar from the existing stonework and will be replaced to match the existing material, composition and tooling. The project, weather permitting, is expected to be completed prior to the end of the year.
Time to Weatherize

Comprehensive Plan

The city of St. Joseph is developing a comprehensive plan to guide its growth and development over the next 20 years. The plan should reflect the ideas, aspirations and values of the community. To do so, residents need to be a part of the conversation. The city and RDG Planning will be hosting a community visioning session on Tuesday, October 12, starting at 5:30pm at Remington Nature Center, 1502 MacArthur Drive. Everyone is encouraged to come and find out more about the comprehensive planning process, ideas and goals, as well as share their thoughts on the growth and development of St. Joseph. To find out more, visit the comprehensive plan website and take a community survey.

Have plans this weekend? Head down to Patee Park for the 25th annual Pumpkinfest. The festival, October 8-10, will feature numerous vendors, live entertainment, the children's costume parade and the lighting of Pumpkin Mountain.
