All are welcome, and coffee is on us!
National Night Out
The Los Altos Police Department is looking forward to celebrating National Night Out with YOU on Tuesday, August 7 th! Residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement. Some may host a block party, ice cream social, a cookout at a park or some other community gathering.

National Night Out is celebrated in communities across the U.S. and was created to enhance police-community partnerships. The event helps spread awareness about crime prevention programs and the impact citizens can have on reducing crime, drugs, and violence in their community. Local neighborhoods and homeowners’ associations play a critical role in assisting the police department in these efforts and can help make our neighborhoods safer. Register your neighborhood event by Monday, July 23, 2018 and Officers will be sure to stop by for a visit. For more information or to register, visit l osaltosca.gov/poli ce.
Public Works
Suffolk Way - Sinkhole Repair
Maintenance crews responded to reports of a small sinkhole on Suffolk Way 3-weeks ago. Upon investigation, which included closed circuit camera inspection, it was discovered that the depth of the cavity measured to be approximately 8.5 feet deep and 4 feet by 8 feet wide, likely resulting from an old abandoned septic tank. Engineering and maintenance crews put forth a plan of correction which included further excavation to reveal the extent of the cavity, removal of intruding roots, placement of control density fill (CDF) - a low strength concrete material used for back-filling, and ultimately restoration of pavement. All the work was completed this week.

PG&E Gas Line Project – El Monte Road
Beginning Monday, July 23, PG&E will be performing work on El Monte Road between O’Keefe Lane and I-280 to install a gas main, SCADA cabinets and underground vaults. Work is anticipated to last 4-weeks with completion targeted by the end of August. During construction, minor traffic delays may be experienced during the work hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on El Monte Road.
