City Manager Weekly Update

City Clerk
Be Prepared for PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has authorized investor-owned utilities like PG&E to shut off their distribution and transmission lines to prevent wildfires. These events are called Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) and could last as long as two to five days. With fire season approaching, it is critical that every household take steps to prepare for these power outages. Ensure you and your family are prepared by following these tips:

  1. Update Your Contact Information: PG&E will notify residents and businesses of a PSPS event via email, text and phone before and during the outage. Make sure your PG&E contact information is up to date in order to receive alerts.
  2. Create an Emergency Plan and Supply Kit: Make sure you have an emergency plan and a supply kit that will last several days.
  3. Safely Operate Your Backup Generator: If you have a backup generator, make sure you know how to safely operate it to protect yourself and your family. If you have rooftop solar, your panels likely will NOT work during a power outage unless you have battery storage or a special inverter.

Ice Cream with a Cop
Thanks to the 100+ community members who joined us this past Wednesday for our first Ice Cream with a Cop event! We had a great time getting to know the many families that stopped by for a visit. There were some great questions asked by our young residents and we appreciated the opportunity to help educate kids on a variety of public safety topics. We’d like to thank our downtown Baskin Robbins all the staff for allowing us to host this fun event at their store. We know we kept you all busy scooping for a couple of hours on that warm summer day, and we appreciate your kind service!
