Scam Alert
A new scam letter is going around and has made its way to Los Altos. The letter states the sender knows about a “secret” the receiver has been keeping and demands payment in Bitcoin to ensure the information is not released. It also contains a specific account to send the bitcoin to. The letter may contain personal information about the recipient, such as their name and possibly a spouse’s name.
Scammers are constantly coming up with new ways to attempt to get money from victims. As always, do not send money, bitcoin or gift cards to people you do not personally know. If you are ever in doubt about a letter’s legitimacy, feel free to contact the Los Altos Police Department at 650-947-2770.

Maintenance Updates
City crews have been preparing facilities for special events planned this summer. The crews recently supported the work for the 20
th anniversary celebration of the “Cradle of Liberty” statue in Shoup Park prior to the July 4
th ceremony, prepared Grant Park for Movie Night and are working in and around downtown in preparation of the Arts & Wine Festival next weekend. Maintenance staff have been weeding, trimming and cleaning the downtown area and will power wash several high-traffic sidewalk areas next week.
In addition to routine maintenance and preparing for special events, this week crews also worked on repairing a sinkhole on Suffolk Drive, repairing the pathway in Mckenzie Park and installing flower pots at Foothill Expressway and Grant Road near the Luck’s supermarket.
Sewer System Repairs Project
The Sewer System Repair Program project consists of rehabilitation of six sanitary sewer segments. All sewer line replacements are complete. The City’s contractor replaced two sewer pipe segments along Eleanor Avenue and Annette Lane last week using a trenchless construction method (pipe reaming) and reconnected sewer laterals at these locations. Final punch list items are being addressed before the project will be accepted as complete.
South Sewer Main Replacement
Construction is complete for the South Sewer Main Replacement along Fremont Avenue. Work consisted of replacing two sanitary sewer segments between Fallen Leaf Lane and Truman Avenue using a trenchless method (pipe reaming). Last week the contractor completed pavement restoration. The City is reviewing final video inspection records and the contractor is correcting punch list items, after which the project will be accepted.
