Community Development
Meeting with Loyola Corners Business Community
Economic Development Coordinator Anthony Carnesecca attended the Chamber of Commerce Networking Night at Loyola Corners this week, where he had the chance to speak with employees, business owners, property owners, and area residents about this historic district off Foothill Expressway. He listened and learned a lot about the history of the area, its businesses, and the array of views on how the City can help enhance Loyola Corners.

Annual Parking Permits
Annual parking permits available for Downtown business owners, employees and contractors will go on sale beginning Tuesday, September 4 online at losaltos.thepermitstore.com. Current parking permits for 2017/18 will expire on September 30, 2018, however, please do not discard the current parking permits until then to avoid a citation. The permits for next year will be valid from October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019. Business owners are urged to inform employees of the upcoming parking permit sales, so they will have the appropriate permits starting in October.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy
When the next disaster strikes, be prepared to help yourself, your family, friends, neighbors and community. Register now for the CERT academy beginning Tuesday, September 11 at 6 p.m. at Hillview Community Center. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) academy trains residents to prepare for and respond to life-threatening events in their community. CERT members prepare, organize and work together as a team to provide essential services to their community during and after a disaster.

Los Altos CERTs strengthen neighborhood resiliency and play a vital role in the City’s disaster response efforts. Some of the skills taught in CERT academies include organizing resources, medical operations, basic search and rescue, how to use a fire extinguisher and damage assessment.

Taking CERT training is easy, fun and accomplished in about 21-hours culminating with a final disaster simulation exercise applying the skills participants have learned. For more information or to register for the upcoming CERT academy, visit losaltosca.gov/cert.
