Halloween Celebrations
The Los Altos Recreation & Community Services Department showed their Halloween Spirit by dressing up as Rock Stars on Tuesday, October 31st.

The Los Altos Parks and Recreation Commission hosted a successful “Twas 3 Nights Before Halloween Movie Night” on Saturday, October 28th at Grant Park. There were 100 participants who attended the movie night to view Pooh’s Heffalump Movie and Halloweentown. This event was a fantastic success!

Hillview Senior Program Updates
Friday Luncheons – Beginning the month of November, luncheons will no longer have a set price. Instead, a donation will be asked from each person to help offset the cost of the meal. However, no participant will be denied if they are unable to contribute.

Annual Membership Renewals – Renewal notices are now being sent via our newly created postcard. Look for yours in the mail at renewal time.

Reminder – Ping Pong Rooms are available at the Senior Center located at Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Avenue. Held in Room 12 on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to3:00 p.m. Reservations are required. Members are FREE; the cost for non-members is $3.00.

Avoid Medicare Scams & Frauds – HiCap counselor Abe Wishnia will be at the Los Altos Senior Center at Hillview Community Center to provide us with advice and updates on Medicare and inform us of current scams to be aware of. Join us November 9, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. in Room 11. Brown Bag Lunch included. The cost is $4.00 for members.

Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries – It’s that time of the year again! The Rotary Club of Los Altos is hosting is annual program to assist seniors by changing the batteries in their smoke detectors. This will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To reserve an appointment please call the Los Altos Senior Center at (650) 947-2797.

Senior Center Holiday Closures - Los Altos Senior Center at Hillview Community Center will be closed Friday November 10, 2017 in observance of Veterans Day. The program will also be closed November 23 and 24, 2017 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving Lunch – The De Anza College Jazz Band will kick off this year’s Thanksgiving Lunch scheduled for Friday, November 17, 2017. The concert starts at 10:30 a.m. with lunch following at 12:00 p.m. Contact the Los Altos Senior Center to reserve your space at (650) 947-2797. The cost is $5.00 for the concert and a donation for the lunch.

November Mini Trip – The Senior Center is heading to the San Francisco Chronicle 60th Annual International Auto Show on Monday, November 20, 2017. The cost for members is $45.00; all others is $55.00. For more information about this trip please call (650) 947-2797.

Winter Wonder is coming to Hillview – Come join us for the Holiday Tree Lighting Event on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be caroling, refreshments and fun activities on the Senior Center Patio at Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Avenue. There is a $4.00 donation for the refreshments.

Grant Senior Program Updates
Fire Prevention – Christine Moore and Gina Cali from the Santa Clara County Fire Department will be at Grant Park to speak about fire prevention during the coming holidays. Please join us on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 12:45 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room to hear this very important presentation.
