Breakfast With Santa
Breakfast with Santa was held on Saturday, December 9 at the Marina Community Center, located at 151 Marina Drive from 9:00am to 11:00am. The event featured a free pancake breakfast provided by the Seal Beal Lions Club, photos with Santa, arts and crafts, and live music provided Jennifer Corday. One large box of toy donations were accepted and dropped off at OCFA’s Spark of Love toy drive to benefit children in need this holiday season.

On Thursday, December 12th, the Staff Engagement Team hosted a highly successful Clothing Swap at the Council Chambers during lunch. The event was a fantastic opportunity for staff to get rid of clothes they no longer need, refresh their current closet, and donate the rest of the items to a local shelter.

County of Orange Housing & Community Development Seeks Input from Seal Beach Residents for 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan
The County of Orange receives approximately $4 million in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) each year for housing and community development projects in the following jurisdictions: County unincorporated areas, Laguna Beach, Placentia, Laguna Hills, Seal Beach, Brea, Laguna Woods, Stanton, Cypress, La Palma, Yorba Linda, San Juan Capistrano, Villa Park, Dana Point, and Los Alamitos.
These annual grants can be used to provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expanded economic opportunities, for low-and-moderate-income persons in our city. In creating the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan, the County needs your help to identify the priorities for improvements and public services in Seal Beach.
The County is also hosting five community outreach meetings to facilitate community input.

Winter 2024-2025 Shoreline Brochure
The Winter 2024-2025 Shoreline Brochure was published online Friday, November 1st, and registration for Winter classes began on Monday, November 4th. Information for recreation classes, surf lessons, and aquatic programs that occur between December 2024 and March 2025 are all included in the Winter Shoreline. The brochure can be found on our City website at: https://www.sealbeachca.gov/Departments/Community-Services-Recreation/Recreation-Guide-Class-Info. Viewers can click directly on the classes listed in the brochure and be taken to our online registration website. Registration can also take place in person at City Hall or by mail with check payable to the City of Seal Beach.

Senior Lunch Café
Senior Lunch Café - The Seal Beach Lunch Program is provided by Meals on Wheels Orange County (OC), which is temporarily being held at the Fire Station 48 Community Room at 3131 N. Gate Road. The Dine-In Lunch Café takes place Monday - Friday from 11:00am- 12:00pm. The Dine-In Lunch Program is open to adults ages 60 years and older. A suggested donation for lunch is $3.00. North Seal Beach Center Improvements
Our newly renovated North Seal Beach Community Center reopened on Monday, December 16th. Meal service for senior meals has resumed as regularly scheduled Monday through Friday.

Department Highlights
There are currently 1,845 users registered for the Senior Transportation Program. The program is available for Seal Beach residents ages 60 years and older and consists of a pre-fixed shuttle route and Yellow Cab Taxi service. To register for the program, please visit www.sealbeachca.gov or contact the Recreation and Community Services Department at (562) 431-2527 X 1307.
There are currently 384 pickleball members and 80 tennis members at the Seal Beach Tennis and Pickleball Center. To sign up for a membership, please contact staff at the Center, or call (562) 598-8624 for more information.

Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center
The Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center is implementing a new check-in process to ensure a smooth and secure experience for all of our members and visitors. This change is driven by our commitment to security and accurate visitor tracking and data. This new scanning process involves scanning a barcode from your Seal Beach Recreation App or a physical pass. SBTPC Staff is working with members and passholders to issue their new membership cards and get their photo taken, in an effort to convert everyone to the new system by the beginning of the new year. This process will ensure that all patrons pass through the front desk, enhancing our ability to identify and account for everyone using the courts.

Welcome, Sam Cecil, P/T Maintenance Aide
The Public Works Department welcomes Sam Cecil to the City of Seal Beach!
Sam also works as a Services Aide for the City of Huntington Beach, where he is responsible for managing various facilities. His duties include setting up and taking down equipment, assisting in the facilitation of activities, and processing new materials to ensure smooth operations. In addition to this role, Sam worked at SAS Retail Services, where he played a key role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policy compliance.
As a Maintenance Aide for Seal Beach, some of Sam’s responsibilities will include maintenance and repair of City facilities, completing service orders, and assisting the Maintenance Team with various other projects.
Public Works is excited to have Sam as part of the team! Welcome Sam!

Announcement: Water Loss Audit Report Submission
We are pleased to announce the submission of this year’s Water Loss Audit Report to the California Department of Water Resources. This report provides a comprehensive review of our water system's performance during the 2023 calendar year, as part of a statewide initiative to enhance water conservation. Required by state law, the audit tracks water loss, identifies efficiency opportunities, and helps to optimize water management. Our staff has worked diligently to analyze data, assess usage trends, and evaluate system operations for potential improvements. By submitting this report, we are proactively reducing water waste and enhancing the long-term sustainability of our water infrastructure.

Water Leak in College Park East
A resident in College Park East (CPE) recently used the MyCivic request portal to report a water leak. City staff quickly responded to the issue, investigating and identifying water seeping through the curb.
After assessing potential sources, it was determined that the leak originated from the private property. The City immediately notified the homeowner, who took swift action to resolve the problem. This is a great example of how the MyCivic portal empowers residents to report concerns and enables prompt, effective solutions.

Pier Maintenance
Safety is a top priority for the City of Seal Beach, and our staff is dedicated to addressing potential hazards promptly and effectively. Recently, staff was alerted to missing and loose boards on the Seal Beach Pier, a beloved landmark and popular destination for both residents and visitors. Recognizing the urgency of the issue, the team acted immediately. The damaged boards were swiftly replaced and securely reattached, restoring the Pier’s structural integrity and maintaining its accessibility.
Thanks to the quick response and dedication of our Public Works Maintenance team, the community can continue to enjoy the Pier’s breathtaking ocean views and welcoming atmosphere, with confidence in its safety.

Painting on Main Street
Safety and convenience are top priorities for the City of Seal Beach, and our staff remains dedicated to ensuring a well-informed and protected community. To help residents and visitors easily identify parking areas and avoid violations, staff recently repainted red sidewalk curbs and white delineation bars along Main Street. These markings clearly designate no-parking zones and ensure compliance with parking regulations, contributing to smoother traffic flow and enhanced pedestrian safety.

Participated in the monthly statewide parking teleconference to discuss emerging trends, address challenges, and share solutions for improving parking enforcement and management within Seal Beach.
Seal Beach Police Department is addressing Organized Retail Crime:
By staffing additional officers in the to assist with calls for service at the major vendors like Kohls, Target, Marshalls, and Ulta. As we have seen in the past over the holiday season these businesses are struck with a high rate of grand theft as a result of ORC (Organized Retail Crime). The Seal Beach Police Department hopes that the additional officers in the area will help deter the crime from our city.
Seal Beach Police Department hosted a DUI / Drivers License check point on December 18th:
The check point took place on Seal Beach Blvd across from the Police Department. The check point is funded from the Office of Traffic and Safety Grant (OTS). This grant is related helping in reduce drunk drivers, lower traffic collisions, and make the roadways a safer place. This is the 7th year the Seal Beach Police Department has applied for and received funding for traffic related issues.
