Storm Activities and Cleanup
Following the major rain event on February 1st, Public Works and Public Safety crews continued their efforts combatting the atmospheric river system that reached the City just a few days later. West End Pump Station and Orange County Public Work’s Seal Beach Pump Station were in full operation for the entire duration. City crews closely monitored catch basins, grates, culverts, and gutters. Debris buildup and obstructions were promptly removed to maintain regular flow in the drainage system. Post-storm cleanup efforts continue throughout the City and beach shoreline.

A main break was reported at Seal Beach Boulevard & Marlin Avenue. With the assistance of the City’s on-call contractor, the leak was located on a 10” cast iron transmission line running parallel with Seal Beach Boulevard. This water main is the main artery that serves water to the southerly portion of the City. To stop the leak, staff installed two (2) 10” line stops. The first line stop was installed to diminish the rate of flow, and the second line stop was utilized to reverse the flow to ensure proper safety measures while the repair work took place.
