February 2, 2018
Greetings!

It’s an exciting time to be in American Canyon! The City is only 25 years young –not brand new, but definitely still growing and developing. We are small enough
to be flexible, yet big enough to tackle important new and creative ideas. The Annual State of the City Report will soon be delivered to every home and business located within the City limits of American Canyon.

I hope you will join us at the Annual State of the City presentation, hosted by the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce, to hear the City's accomplishments in 2017 and goals for 2018. Register today.

If you're unable to make it to the presentation, don't worry, we will Facebook Live the event and also record to broadcast later on Channel 28. The scheduled broadcast times will be sent out as soon as they are available.

We invite you to share your ideas with us and get involved in creating the community that will make you proud.

Interim City Manager

Construction Updates

You may be wondering about recent construction activity around town. We provide updates every Friday on our website about our cone zones.

The Theresa Avenue and Los Altos Drive Sewer Replacement Project is getting underway. The project will take place on Los Altos from the west side of Rio Del Mar to Theresa Avenue and a portion of Theresa Avenue. The project includes replacement of an aging sewer line, storm drain improvements, construction of curb and gutter, repaving of the street. Work is expected to be completed by May. There will be traffic delays, please avoid the area if you can. A public meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 5th, at 6 PM in the City Council Chambers. This meeting will provide more information and give the community an opportunity to ask questions. The construction notice is available on our website.
ACPD
Neighborhood Watch Update from Chief Ortiz

Our first Citywide Neighborhood Watch Meeting of 2018 was great! At this meeting, we went over the basics about our Neighborhood Watch Program and great tips about home security. We hold these meetings bimonthly. Each session includes tips on how you can help keep our community a safe place, free from crime. Sign up to be a member of our Watch and you’ll receive updates on the details of these meetings. Hope to see you at our next meeting in March!

January brought mixed weather, from rain and fog, to sunshine and spring-like days. ACPD would like to remind everyone to plan their day accordingly, especially when it comes to driving. Whether it’s driving to work, or dropping kids off at school, we ask everyone to be safe and courteous on our roads. It is predictable that traffic will be impacted by fog, wet roads, and rain, so leaving a little earlier is a better solution versus driving a little faster. Our efforts in January included maximum traffic enforcement operations to help keep our roads safe. There will be more operations of this nature in the coming months. We would rather drivers slow down and avoid tickets, or even worse…accidents.

We are always a call away. Please do not hesitate to call dispatch to report suspicious activity or people (707) 253-4451 (save this number in your cell phone). Stop by our office at 911 Donaldson Way East or call us anytime at 551-0600 with questions or general concerns. Oh, and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook – I’ve heard our hashtag skills are becoming the envy of the County!
