One thing that keeps me inspired is knowing how hard this community works to ensure our most vulnerable populations are taken care of. Several years ago, the City leaders wisely took a leap of faith and acquired a defunct housing project on Oat Hill (near City Hall.) Now, standing in its place, is the Valley View Senior Housing Project. Construction has been underway since last fall, and another important milestone was reached today. The City’s non-profit partner (Satellite Affordable Housing Associates or “SAHA”) is now accepting applications for one-bedroom and two-bedroom units! There are a total of 69 units, and priority is being given to veterans as well as those seniors who live and/or work in American Canyon. Workshops to assist applicants with the process are scheduled on Thursdays beginning next week (May 17th) through June 14th at the Senior Multi-Use Center (2185 Elliott Dr.) from 10 AM-12 PM (no appointment necessary). The application deadline is June 15th. Move-in dates will be at the end of this year.

By now most of you should have received your ballot for the June 5th Primary Election. Be advised, the County Registrar is trying something new this time!  Napa County is a pilot County for the Voter's Choice Act and this election will be 100% Vote By Mail. This should make voting more convenient and accessible for the nearly 10,000 registered voters in American Canyon, and I implore each of you to make your voice heard. You can either return them by mail (don’t forget the stamp) or take them to a ballot drop box. Ballot drop boxes are located throughout the County, including one located just outside the main entrance at City Hall for your convenience. Mayor Garcia dropped his ballot off this morning and you can drop yours off too, 24 hours a day (and don't need postage if you use a ballot drop box).

P.S. - We are renewing our request for your feedback on recreational cannabis in American Canyon and we’d like to hear from you through this short survey (now available in English, Espanol, and Tagalog!)
