September 2023

Greetings in September,

City Council 2023 Priority Infrastructure Work Plan

The City Council's 2023 Priority Infrastructure Work Plan encompasses several key focus areas. These priorities include addressing Housing and Homelessness, ensuring Public Safety, and enhancing Infrastructure.

Infrastructure Priorities:

  1. Community Clean-up and Beautification
  2. Complete Parks Master Plan and Facilities Condition Assessment Plan
  3. Fully Fund All Capital Improvement Programs

A Community Survey conducted in February 2023 revealed that residents prioritize maintaining existing facilities over adding new ones. The survey also indicated that residents believe additional funding for services and infrastructure is necessary. The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Policies established in May 2023 underscore the community's desire to finalize projects before initiating new ones. Roof repair and addressing items at risk of failure (particularly those related to public safety,) increasing revenue, and the need to conduct facility condition assessments before allocating funds to facility projects are implemented into the Capital Improvement Plan Policies.

Join a City Council Meeting In Person or From Home!

San Leandro City Council meetings are conducted in person at the City Hall Council Chambers. Members of the public may attend City Council meetings in person. As a courtesy, and technology permitting, members of the public may continue to participate virtually by Zoom. However, the City does not guarantee that the public’s access to teleconferencing or videoconferencing technology will be uninterrupted, and technical difficulties may occur from time to time. Should Zoom not be available or become non-functioning, or should the City Council otherwise encounter technical difficulties that make Zoom unavailable, the City Council will proceed with business in person unless otherwise prohibited by law.

Sincerely,
Office Of Sustainability

Another Successful Tree Planting!

Thank you to all of our volunteers who came out to help weed and sheet mulch our newly planted trees at Cherry Grove Park! This will help to retain water, suppress weeds, and make the soil better. Thanks to our partners Hands on Bay Area and Common Vision

for organizing the volunteers and tools, San Leandro High School's Interact and Arroyo Interact for volunteers, and The City of San Leandro's Public Works for coordinating the mulch.
