A New Year's Message from the City Manager

Happy New Year Team Lodi,

Welcome to the first full work week of 2025. Like me, I hope you enter the year with eagerness and excitement. As we step into 2025, I want to express my gratitude for each of you and the work you do for our city. Your dedication, creativity, and resilience make a difference in the lives of our residents, and it is a privilege to lead this outstanding team.

The New Year transition is an opportune time to reflect as we think about the future. Seven months into my tenure as City Manager and halfway through the fiscal year, there are three distinct observations that influence my outlook and bring me optimism for what lies ahead.

First, the tight-knit Lodi community and the city team are our greatest strengths. We also face challenges, and my second observation is that the pre-existing structural deficit and service deficiencies remain our greatest challenge. My third observation is that Lodi’s history of innovation and smart investments provides a solid foundation from which to launch our future.

Looking ahead, 2025 brings new opportunities for growth and meaningful progress toward the community’s priorities as expressed in the City Council’s Strategic Vision. Our team is positioned to deliver the great things Lodi deserves. The city team is a “can do” team and our commitment to service is a reflection of the Lodi community. With strategic partnerships, community support, and the dedication of our team we will keep Lodi special as we overcome our challenges to make smart investments.

Thank you for your hard work, perseverance, and dedication. I am excited for what we will achieve together and wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy and fulfilling 2025.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest

Join us in congratulating Brittany Castaneda from the IT Division for winning 1st place in the 2024 Ugly Christmas Sweater competition! The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department hosted the fun contest last month, inviting City staff to participate and get creative. Brittany definitely hit that mark! Congrats Brittany!

Annual Leaf Removal Program - Round 2!

The second round of the City's annual Leaf Removal Program is still underway. Please note the following to help keep this round running smoothly and on schedule:

·   Rake all leaves beyond the toe of the gutter. This keeps the water flow unobstructed.

·   Crews will not pick up leaf piles that contain pruning, lawn clippings, Christmas trees, or flowers.

·   We cannot recycle plastic bags. Do not place your leaves in plastic bags.

·   Do not park your cars on the streets scheduled for collection until clean-up street sweeper crews pass. Cars parked on the street impair clean-up efforts. Sweepers have difficulty maneuvering around cars and crews cannot get to the leaves. The sweeper starts at 4:00 a.m.

·   The City will not collect piles placed in the street after the sweeper crews pass. Leaf collection crews start at 6:30 a.m.

The City is divided into ten districts for leaf pickup. It requires approximately ten working days to complete one round. Below is the schedule for the first round of leaf pickups.
