Spring brings a wonderful opportunity to come together through several impactful community events that highlight our commitment to environmental stewardship and social awareness.

I invite you to a collaborative event tomorrow between Sustainable Sandhills, the City of Fayetteville and Cumberland County to celebrate Earth Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Festival Park. "Earth Day is Every Day”, includes an opportunity to participate in our annual city-wide cleanup effort, Fayetteville Beautiful, a 5K and 10K trail race, a cornhole tournament, engaging activities for kids, and educational opportunities about environmental conservation. Attendees can explore an electric vehicle car show, offering a glimpse into the future of transportation. This gathering is a perfect way for families and friends to connect with nature and our community’s sustainable efforts. 

Further enriching our community’s connection to Earth Day, the City’s Storm Water and Solid Waste hosted a special celebration for second-grade students on April 16 and 17 at Arnette Park. This event provided ample fun and educational activities centered around recycling and conservation while creating a deeper understanding of environmental responsibility among our young learners. 

On April 24, Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations is hosting their annual Denim Day Luncheon at Studio 215. This free event is a reminder of the importance of solidarity and community support in combating sexual violence. I invite you to attend with us to support sexual violence prevention and honor survivors. I encourage everyone to RSVP as soon as possible and wear jeans as a powerful statement against misconceptions surrounding sexual assault. 

These events are more than just gatherings; they are a testament to what we can achieve together. Whether it’s learning about sustainability, enhancing our city’s beauty, or standing in solidarity against injustice, each event offers a way to contribute to our community’s well-being and future.

We look forward to seeing you at these events, sharing in the ‘Can Do’ spirit of our community and commitment to making Fayetteville a great place to live, work and recreate.

FCHR Host Annual Denim Day Luncheon April 24

Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations will host its annual Denim Day Luncheon at Studio 215, 215 Williams St. on April 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free event is to raise awareness about sexual violence prevention and support for sexual assault survivors. Community members planning to attend the Fayetteville event must RSVP. Marketing and Communications Department wins First Place in statewide competition

The City of Fayetteville’s Marketing and Communications Department won first place in the North Carolina City & County Communicators (NC3C) annual statewide competition. The department was awarded first place at NC3C’s annual conference held this week in Concord. This is the City’s 39th NC3C Award.  MORE

Fayetteville Woodpeckers mark five years since the kickoff of Project Homerun

The City of Fayetteville’s baseball team, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, mark five years as the City’s official partner with Project Homerun on April 18. The Woodpeckers played their first home game at Segra Stadium on April 18, 2019, five years ago. MORE
