Spring is upon us…days are getting longer, and the weather is warming up. I hope you are looking forward to exciting City events ahead and look forward to the memories we will make together. We have the Spring Dogwood Festival right around the corner and the Woodpeckers Season Opening game is this weekend.
Additionally, did you know the Cape Fear River Trail extends from Downtown Fayetteville to the Jordan Soccer Complex off Ramsey Street? What about the aquatics center at the new Bill Crisp Senior Center near Lake Rim Park? I’m confident you know that we have a splash pad in Fayetteville, but did you know we have 14 of them throughout the city? We have a phenomenal Parks and Recreation Department and as we prepare for spring and summer sports, we will ensure they are supporting events throughout the city.
This is just one small piece of making YOUR community the most desirable place to live, work and play. Make sure you check out the new parks and rec activities guide that’s filled with engaging activities and classes along with information about parks and trails for families to enjoy. Our parks and recreation centers are where people can come together to learn, stay active, and build community.
In addition, last week City Council traveled to Washington D.C. to strengthen the existing relationships and took our local issues to the national level to ensure our federal representatives are well informed of what we need to make our City the best it can be.
I know I can be biased when I talk about our community, but it is just because I’m proud to be your city manager and work along-side so many of your friends and neighbors. They could choose another job in another location, but they have dedicated themselves to making Fayetteville a better place for you and me.
