The Latest from Doug

As we approach the final days of 2024, I want to remind you that Fayetteville is alive with holiday cheer and unforgettable experiences making it one of the best places to spend the holidays! Tonight, I hope you get to enjoy the Fayetteville Holiday Lights at Segra Stadium for a magical and illuminating evening under millions of twinkling lights. Don’t miss your chance to meet Santa, stroll the beautifully lit warning track, enjoy a steaming cup of hot chocolate, and take in the final fireworks show of the year, which will light up the sky at 8:30 p.m.Grab a drink downtown in our Social district before the gates open at 5:30 p.m., or enjoy dinner before you head over as the festivities last until 9:30 p.m. This beloved tradition is the perfect way to celebrate the season with your family. Tickets and more information are available online

As we look forward to welcoming the New Year, the 4th Annual Night Circus: A District NYE Spectacular will take center stage in downtown Fayetteville. This year’s celebration features incredible performances by Grammy-winning Digable Planets and the iconic Arrested Development, along with local musicians and DJs to keep the energy high. The event will also include circus-like attractions such as stilt walkers, fire dancers, and roving magicians, creating a colorful, lively atmosphere for everyone. As the clock strikes midnight, join us in raising Fayetteville’s custom-designed 18-foot, multi-colored NYE star, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. If you haven’t been able to attend previous years, I want to tell you that this will be an unforgettable night and is a testament to the vibrancy of our community as we celebrate together.

Over the next couple of weeks, I hope we all get a chance to reflect on our shared experiences, challenges, and triumphs as we wrap up this year and look ahead to 2025. May the holidays bring joy, peace, and warmth to you and your loved ones. My goal is we continue this spirit of togetherness and hope into the New Year, ready to embrace new opportunities and create lasting memories in our "Can Do" city. Happy Holidays, Fayetteville!

Best,

Douglas J. Hewett
