As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day to reflect on his legacy, I am reminded and inspired of how powerful unity and service impact our community. From the many local organizations supporting community initiatives to residents like you who show kindness and compassion every day, it’s clear that working together can create lasting change and make a difference in the lives of others. I encourage you to continue finding ways to make a positive difference in our city. Whether it’s participating in a community service project or taking time to connect with a neighbor, every act of kindness has a positive impact.
Looking ahead, I am excited to share an opportunity for local organizations to join us in shaping a brighter future for Fayetteville. The City’s Economic and Community Development Department is now accepting proposals from nonprofits and qualified partner organizations to support initiatives outlined in the 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan.
Through funding from federal programs like the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA), we work towards enhancing the quality of life for our residents. These funds support community activities, including housing assistance, homeless prevention, and resources for low- to moderate income residents.
We believe that partnerships are the key to community development, and we invite organizations passionate about making a difference to apply and work with us to implement impactful programs that address the needs of our community.
If you are part of an organization interested in partnering with the City, please visit FayettevilleNC.gov/ECD to learn more about the Notice of Funding Availability. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, January 26, 2025.
Please continue to stay warm and safe.
Best,
Douglas J. Hewett
