The Latest from Doug

I want to thank everyone who came out to support and enjoy the City’s Independence Celebration at Festival Park last night. I’m so honored to be part of a community who supports one another and be able to provide exceptional service to all of you.

With all the activities the last two weeks, if you are looking to just unwind, Fayetteville offers so many unique dining locations to explore. Whether you're from here, a service member recently stationed at Fort Liberty, or a tourist, there's always something new to discover.

These opportunities are all around us in the Downtown Social District. However, If you are looking for something outside of our Historical Downtown that serves local delicacies, you can find local flavors and hospitality in each corner of the City from Gillis Hill Road to Ramsey Street. I know those of us in City Hall would love to hear about the savory dishes you find.

With all the exciting events and activities taking place in Fayetteville, I want to acknowledge the extreme heat we have experienced lately, with temperatures reaching triple digits, it's important to stay safe, stay hydrated, and look out for one another. As we move into the weekend, it is also imperative that everyone does their part to keep their storm drains clean and clear as there is potential for heavy downpours and localized flash flooding. As we enjoy these local attractions, it's crucial to stay safe during this period of hot weather. Ensure you stay hydrated and take breaks in cool, shaded areas.

Fayetteville's unique attractions, rich history, and strong community spirit make it a wonderful place to live, work, and recreate. Thank you for your continued support and participation in making our city a better place for all.

Best,

Douglas J. Hewett
