The Latest from Doug
I really appreciate all the wonderful relationships I see developing between all our City partners. Fayetteville Police Chief Kemberle Braden and Marketing and Communications Director Loren Bymer are two city employees who are “Going Over the Edge” with United Way on Saturday showing their support for the community. Cool Springs Downtown will be hosting and partnering with local businesses for St. Patrick’s Day festivities. One partnership that I am so proud of is our Parks and Recreation and the Fayetteville Police Department teaming up with Methodist University and the Special Olympics Spring Games to provide support. We know how important it is to have volunteers at events so we have also extended this opportunity to all our City Employees to volunteer if they would like to volunteer by signing up at Special Olympics Volunteer Sign Up.
I want to commend the Fayetteville Area System of Transit department on a successful event to recruit transit drivers for FAST. Our top-notch team continues to do a great job of making FAST a viable transportation option for all residents.
Finally, I want to highlight the work that our Economic and Community Development Department is doing for our residents. The City Council and the ECD Director, Chris Cauley had a very good conversation about multiple ongoing initiatives including the Downpayment Assistance Program, aimed to help first-time home buyers with up to a $20,000 downpayment if they qualify.
Our entire City staff is working really hard to make our beautiful City a great place to live work and recreate. I’m thankful to have a team with the level of unwavering professionalism and dedication to our residents.
Best,
Doug
