Spring has arrived, bringing warmer days, vibrant blooms, and fresh energy to our city. In Fayetteville, that means we’re gearing up for our beloved 4th Friday, now through October. On the fourth Friday of each month, this family-friendly celebration offers a wonderful way to explore our historic downtown, enjoy a local meal, or simply soak up the festive atmosphere.
Whether it’s your first time or you’re a longtime resident, each 4th Friday promises fresh experiences and new memories. I hope to see you throughout the season, celebrating everything that makes our downtown so vibrant.
While you’re downtown, I encourage you to enjoy our Social District. You can purchase beverages in specially marked cups from participating businesses and wander designated areas. The Social District brings a fun, relaxed vibe to Fayetteville’s Historic Downtown. Please drink responsibly, stay within marked boundaries, and help keep our streets clean so everyone can enjoy.
On Wednesday, April 2, there is a fantastic way to enjoy baseball while making a positive impact. Our Fayetteville Woodpeckers will face off against the Asheville Tourists at 6:35 p.m. for the “One Ville” Exhibition at Segra Stadium. Two dollars from every ticket supports relief efforts in Asheville and Western Carolina, with the Woodpeckers matching all proceeds. Opening Day for the regular season is Friday, April 4.
I’m pleased to share that Fayetteville’s hometown utility recently wrapped up a highly successful PWC Expo, offering our community an exciting peek behind the scenes of vital services we rely on every day. From interactive demonstrations by our hardworking lineworkers to hands-on exhibits about water treatment and energy-saving tips, the event truly showcased PWC’s commitment to innovation and reliability. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make this free, fun-filled day an impressive display of learning, engagement, and community pride.
My heartfelt thanks go to the sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who make these events possible. It continues to show that Fayetteville is open for business and we continue to shine as a city of warmth, excitement, and opportunity.
I’m proud to see our residents unite in ways that celebrate our diverse talents and shared interests. I encourage you to embrace the season, support your neighbors, and enjoy all our city offers. Let’s keep our community strong by trying something new, stepping out of comfort zones, and appreciating the culture that makes Fayetteville special.
Best,
Douglas J. Hewett
