The Latest from Doug

I hope you are ready to immerse yourselves in a vibrant blend of culture and creativity right here in our beautiful city.

The International Folk Festival holds a special place in our hearts as the oldest continuously running festival in Fayetteville, and it's our ambition to surpass the impressive attendance of over 50,000 in 2019. Your presence and participation are essential in making this happen.

Once the storm moves out of the area, Fayetteville's downtown district is going to come alive with the enchanting sights and sounds of our local arts and entertainment scene this weekend. Prepare to embark on a journey across the world right here in Fayetteville, with over 35 different countries expected to be represented.

The International Folk Festival, set to take place from Sept. 22rd and 24th. This year marks the 45th anniversary of this beloved community tradition, and despite the weather, all the stops are being pulled out to make it the best one yet.

While there's much to see and do, the undeniable star of the show is the authentic cuisine prepared by various country groups, often following cherished family recipes passed down through generations.

There is also the 3rd Annual All-American Cup sponsored by the Fayetteville Police Department being held at Smith Recreation Center on September 23. This exciting event will begin at 10 a.m. with weigh-in and bouts starting 3 p.m. and conclude at 7 p.m. Come out and support our Fayetteville Youth who participate in our Police Activity League (PAL) program.

I want to encourage you to keep exploring your options with employment at the City. We continue to strive to be an Employer of Choice offering great benefits and culture. It doesn’t matter if you are starting your career or a seasoned professional, we have positions available in a wide range of professions to include our Public Safety with the Fire and Police Departments.

With the spirit of unity, culture, and community, we invite you to celebrate the rich tapestry of Fayetteville's diversity and artistry this weekend and look forward to you becoming part of our team in the future.

Best regards,

Doug
