  • Geocache Refresh The City of Highland Village Parks and Recreation Department has replaced and/or relocated several of our 8 caches. See if you can find them all while visiting our beautiful parks – maybe once the weather cools down!
PROJECT UPDATES
Public Works
  • 2018 Bond Streets Improvement Project Phase 4 This project is almost complete. After the final walk-through, there are still several small items to finish up.

  • Highland Village Rd. Sidewalk Project This project is quickly moving forward. The contractor has completed a significant portion of the work. Installation of sections of the new underground drainage is ongoing and the drainage crew should be finished with the underground work in another week or two. Short traffic delays on Highland Village Road may be experienced from time to time due to this work. 

  • Water and Sewer Line Replacement Project This project is almost complete. The contractor has installed, tested, and placed into service all of the new water main; including the connection of the new sewer laterals to the new sewer main. A small amount of cleanup work remains to be done. The contractor should have a final walkthrough next week.

  • Highland Village Road Ditch Restoration Drainage crews have been working the last couple of weeks restoring the drainage ditch along the north side of Highland Village Road. Crews started at Cedar and are working towards Oak St. 
Parks
  • Doubletree Ranch Park Splash Pad Sealing Parks department worked on the Splash Pad this week applying a sealant that will help with the longevity of the surfacing. The Splash Pad continues to be closed from July 11-17.

  • Kids Kastle Equipment Repair Phil Schmidt’s crew worked on Kids Kastle equipment repairing one of the damaged playsets so it could be put back in use. 
Marketing
  • Communication Survey Project A two-question survey has been launched on SpeakUpHV.com asking residents how they prefer we communicate with them. The survey will help us determine the best way to share information on City news, events, and programs. 
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
  • HVPD hosted its annual awards banquet and celebrated getting to serve this amazing community over the past year. Employees from left to right received the following awards:
  • Cpl. Michael McLaughlin received Officer of the Year
  • Nick Antoun received Auxiliary of the Year
  • Dispatcher Megan Baca received Civilian of the Year
  • Cpl. David Harney received the “Sgt. Dennis Oliver” Community Service Award
  • Sgt. Cory Gullo received Supervisor of the Year

  • Officer Cline opened 28 new cases and closed 28 cases.

Community Development
  • 34 Plans reviewed
  • 35 Permits issued to contractors/homeowners
  • 59 Permit applications submitted
