Coronado Golf Course Rated #1 In San Diego
|
|
|
|
|
The City of Coronado Golf Course has been rated Number One in San Diego County and Number 14 in California, by the 2023 Golfer’s Choice list generated by GolfPass. The City takes great pride in this high honor, because the ratings come from consumer ratings - everyday golfers from all levels of golf experience. The City is proud to provide an excellent level of service to the community and to visitors at the Coronado Golf Course.
The Recreation & Golf Services Department is committed to creating the best in customer service and experiences to local and visiting golfers. The Coronado Golf Course made the 2023 Golfer's Choice list based on its well-kept fairways, golfer satisfaction, staff friendliness, and beautiful scenery, among other attributes.

Water Line Replacement Project Nearing Completion
|
|
|
|
|
California American Water is continuing work on their water line replacement project in Coronado. Construction activities include the final connection of the pipeline at Tenth Street and Avenue A, concrete work at Adella Avenue and Ynez Place, and the final paving and striping of the roads.
Work activities are expected to be completed in the next few weeks. Please use caution when driving through the work zone. Be aware that traffic control may change from day to day as the work activities near completion.

Learn Ways To Be More Aware of Your Surroundings

|

The John D. Spreckels Center will host a “Brief with the Chief” on Feb. 17 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The free presentation will be presented by Coronado Police Chief Chuck Kaye.
Learn about ways to be more aware of your surroundings, how to best protect your belongings, and what to do if you are in a threatening situation.

City Seeking Applicants for Civil Service Commission
|
|
|
|
|
Are you interested in serving the Coronado community? The City's Civil Service Commission has a vacancy, and the City Clerk's Office is looking for applicants to fill the position. The Commission members are responsible for interpreting and administering Civil Service rules and regulations concerning all City employees.

Youth Babysitter Training Class Offered
|
|
|
|
|
The Babysitter Training class is back! If your child is 11 to15 years old and is interested in caring for and mentoring younger children, then starting a babysitting business is the perfect choice. The Babysitter Training class is on Feb. 13 (school holiday) and the course is offered from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. at the Coronado Community Center. Participants will learn how to feed & diaper babies and toddlers.
Participants will learn how to recognize an emergency, what to do if a child is choking, and to how to perform pediatric CPR. A trained babysitter certificate is awarded to each participant at the conclusion of the class. To register for this class, call 619-522-7342, or visit the Recreation & Golf Services website.

Celebrate Arbor Day: Plant a Tree at Spreckels Park
|
|
|
|
Celebrate Arbor Day and help the community improve its urban forestry canopy at the Arbor Day Tree Planting event on March 11 at Spreckels Park.
Sponsored by the City of Coronado Street Tree Committee, the Arbor Day Tree Planting event is open to everyone - groups, families, and individuals. Local historian Kevin Ashley will provide a presentation with historic photos on Coronado's little-known Black history on Feb. 11 at 3 pm. This event will be first-come, first-served in the Winn Room until room capacity is reached.

Breakthrough Workshop Theatre presents its staged reading of The Wizard of Oz in the Winn Room on Feb. 12, at 2 pm.

Aging and Independence Community Programs and Services 2/24
The John D. Spreckels Center is hosting a free overview of nearly 30 programs and services offered by San Diego County Aging & Independence Services on Feb. 24, at 11:30 am. Through county-led programs and other local providers, many free resources exist to improve the health, wellness, and independence of older adults and adults with disabilities.

Green Ball Match Play Offered For Youth Through Impact Activities, 2/25
Impact Activities is offering match play for children in their Green Ball junior program (8-10yrs). On Feb. 25, between 2-5 pm, Impact Activities will host supervised round robin matches at the Coronado Tennis Center. Players will be matched up and taught the rules of competitive play in a safe and fun environment.

Koda is eager to please and loves to be around people. He likes walks, playtime, yard time, fetch, and learning new skills. Koda is looking for an experienced adopter who will continue his training. He would do best in an adult-only home as the only pet.

Simba is a large German Shepherd mix who can play hard to get at first, but once he accepts you, is as loyal as they come. He enjoys walking and has great leash manners. Simba should be the only pet in his home and his adopter should be an experienced dog owner.
