Request A Tree For The Parkway Or Right-of-Way Near You
In 1984 Coronado was designated as a Tree City USA. Today the city’s tree canopy includes over 9,000 public trees, which are located in the parks, parkways, and the Municipal Golf Course.

To celebrate Arbor Day, the City's Street Tree Committee is offering qualified residents the opportunity to request that a tree be planted in the parkway or right-of-way adjacent to their home. City crews will plant the tree of their choice (from an approved list) and monitor the tree. Residents will be able to enjoy the benefits of the tree from their front porch! Residents should fill out the online Street Tree Request form on the City website by Saturday, February 10.
Storm Damaged Beach Access Mats Being Replaced
During the past several storms, the beach access mats at the Dog and Central beaches were damaged. The mats help beach goers with limited mobility or wheelchairs to gain better access to the sand.

City crews have removed the mats and anticipate replacing them by the end of next week, weather permitting. The City apologizes for any inconveniences this may cause to beachgoers.
EDCO Begins Enforcing Organic Food Waste Program
The City will begin enforcing Senate Bill 1383 which requires California residents and businesses to separate organic waste from their trash and recycling. Food waste accounts for 17 to18 percent of total landfill disposal. The diversion of organic waste helps reduce methane emissions from the landfill. In 2021, the City's waste hauler EDCO implemented Coronado's organic food waste program in preparation of the new law. In addition to plant clippings and food scraps, food-soiled paper products, such as napkins, plates, and pizza boxes can be placed in the green cart.

EDCO will enforce accounts with organic waste in their trash by placing a notice on their carts. Repeated violations may lead to penalties starting at $100 per occurrence. The City and EDCO are available to assist residents and businesses with challenges meeting the requirements.
Get Involved. Volunteer To Serve On A City Commission

Serving on a commission, committee, or board provides the opportunity to meet new people and to share your talents with others. Find out how to get involved by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at 619-522-7320, emailing cityclerk@coronado.ca.us, or by checking the City website.
