June 28, 2019
Hello,

Did you see yourself on TV this morning? If you were one of the hundreds of residents at KTVU's "Party in the Park" this morning, then that could have been you! Today, KTVU Channel 2 broadcasted their live morning show highlighting American Canyon. The backdrop to their live set was Community Park II which was full of bubbles, bouncy houses, tug-o-war, and live entertainment by the American Canyon High School's Cheer Squad and Acapella Group, and best of all, good old fashioned community building! A segment was also filmed live from the Napa Junction Brewery, where another group of locals enjoyed live music and great food.

KTVU spent the month of June getting familiar with American Canyon, what makes us unique, and how they would tell the rest of the Bay Area about who we are! This presentation is part of KTVU's program to learn about special Bay Area communities. According to KTVU Reporter Frank Mallicoat, "American Canyon knows how to party!" View the broadcast here.

All of this was just the prelude to the Bay Area's best Fourth of July event! American Canyon's Independence Day festivities will begin at 7 AM with a pancake breakfast hosted by Boy Scouts Troop 7062. Our "Celebrating America's Heroes Patriotic Parade" will start at 10:30 AM at the corner of Elliott and Kimberly Drive and travel north on Elliott Drive to Community Park II (20 Benton Way). The "Fourth of July Celebration & Festival" starts at noon at Community Park II. This family-friendly Festival includes a flag raising ceremony, children's games, food vendors, live entertainment, and more! The Pool will be open from 1:15 – 4 PM, and the fireworks show starts around 9:30 PM. Or, if you are ready for a new adventure, American Canyon Community & Parks Foundation will host their 4th Annual Fireworks Hike again this year! Meet at 8 PM at the Newell Open Space Trailhead (located on the corner of Newell Drive and Donaldson Way East) for a short hike into a great viewing spot to see fireworks from American Canyon and all of the Bay Area. Lastly, fireworks are illegal in American Canyon, so please leave the pyrotechnics to experts at the Festival!

You’ll be able to relax and enjoy the festivities even more if you take a little time this weekend to get your emergency preparedness plans in place. When an emergency strikes, there will not be much time to figure out what you need to do. Plan now so that you can safely and swiftly respond. We can help! Check out our Ready AC website and stop by our Emergency Preparedness Event tomorrow between 10 AM and 1 PM at the Public Safety Building to learn how you can be ready (see flyer below).
