May 31, 2019
Hello,

The end of the school year is approaching quickly! Next week will be a time of celebration throughout American Canyon - from promotions at elementary and middle schools to the graduation of another remarkable senior class from American Canyon High School. While many families have much to celebrate, I couldn’t help but mention the Richards’ family has had all three of their children named a valedictorian at ACHS - growing up most of my focus was “outside” the classroom, so I find this accomplishment simply amazing. This is an exciting time of year, full of parties, endless possibilities, visiting loved ones – so please try to be considerate of neighborhood traffic! Be prepared and plan ahead for the extra cars parking in neighborhoods near the schools in the next week. If you are able to, utilize your garages and driveways to park your own cars to allow room on the street for the loved ones of our graduates.

It’s also another busy weekend around town and nearby. Start your morning off by taking a walk with the Napa-Solano Audobon Society at their H2O Superheroes Program family-friendly event at the wetlands. The Annual Community-Wide Yard Sale kicked off today. I hear there are more than 160 homes hosting sales this weekend. While you’re out shopping for treasures, be sure to stop by the Friends of the American Canyon Library’s book sale between 10 AM and 5 PM on Saturday. Also tomorrow you can join in the celebration of Philippine Cultural Month nearby at the Vallejo Pista Sa Nayon event. Do not miss the opportunity to make and launch your very own paper LED lighted rocket tomorrow evening at our Am Can Star Academy

And finally, mark your calendars to save the date for a chance to be almost famous (or at least part of the crowd in in background on live TV!) American Canyon will be highlighted on KTVU’s upcoming live broadcast series “Zip Trips.” Yes, that’s right, American Canyon will be among only seven cities in the Bay Area to be a part of this exciting opportunity. On Friday, June 28th from 9-10 AM, the KTVU morning news crew will be doing a live broadcast at Community Park II (20 Benton Way), along with a ton of great fun for the community. We’ll share more info next time!
