May 3, 2019

It seems so far away, but 2020 will be here before we know it! You may have already started hearing about the upcoming 2020 Census. The U.S. Census Bureau counts every resident in the United States, just one time each decade!

The 2020 Census will use a new design that incorporates online and phone response options in addition to the traditional paper option. The U.S. Census Bureau is currently hiring temporary positions for the 2020 Census. Below is information on two upcoming job workshops right here in American Canyon. By working for the Census Bureau, you can help reach the goal for the 2020 Census to ensure everyone is counted. Census counts have a significant impact on our community. The 2020 Census data will be used to determine how more than $675 billion from more than 100 government programs are distributed to states and localities, including communities like ours. The data influence choices made about which roads are fixed, where schools are built, and businesses opened, what medical services are offered, and more.

To celebrate Arts Month in April, we partnered with the American Canyon Arts Foundation on a Community Album Raffle. Thank you to everyone who shared beautiful photos of our community. The winners of the raffle prizes, provided by ACAF, are Katie Buffo and John Datlen. Their pictures and a link to the Album are included below.

Neighborhood Watch Update
Our Neighborhood Watch program continues to grow, thanks, in part to Officer “Lobo”, our Weapon of Crime Destruction! This year, we are expanding Neighborhood Watch beyond our residents, to our business community. This week, we facilitated an active shooter presentation to more than 20 employees at the Napa Valley Casino. Later this month, we will be facilitating a discussion on Human Trafficking to front desk staff from the three hotel properties in our community. Read more
