Increased Safety & Efficiency in Place at San Bruno Ave. @ Bayshore
On Wednesday afternoon, no left turns from San Bruno onto Bayshore, except shuttles heading north, went into effect. This was a Council-approved decision to improve motorists’ safety at this intersection, as well as to increase efficiencies during commute hours. Thank you for adhering to the new traffic regulation, which for some, meant needing to modify their route. This included taking San Bruno to Old County Rd., in order to make a safer left turn at the Old County @ Bayshore signalized intersection.

In the spring of 2020, signs will also be installed on Bayshore @ San Bruno to prohibit U-turns in both the northbound and southbound directions. Thank you for your cooperation with these modified traffic laws, whose intent and goal is to make this intersection safer and more efficient.
DTSC Community Survey
The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is one of the regulating agencies overseeing the environmental investigation and cleanup activities at the Brisbane Baylands (their portion being the northwesterly area, referred to as UPC OU-SM in the draft Feasibility Study/Remedial Action Plan that DTSC is currently reviewing). As a part of this review process, DTSC recently sent out a 2-page Community Survey to all of Brisbane and parts of Daly City and San Francisco located closest to the site. The survey was also provided in Spanish and Chinese. DTSC is asking community members to complete both sides of the survey and return it in the self-addressed, stamped envelope by  Friday, January 17th You are also welcome to return the survey electronically to  [email protected]. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Asha Setty, Public Participation Specialist, at [email protected] or (510) 540-3910.

Cold Weather Energy-Saving Tips from PG&E
Try these ideas to help you stay warm and safe this winter:

  • Lower your thermostat when away. Save one percent on heating costs per each degree lowered over an eight hour time frame.

  • Control water temperature. Set water heater thermostat at 120 degrees or lower. Save 10 percent in water heating costs for every ten degrees lowered.

  • Microwave and save. Reheating leftovers in a microwave takes less time and uses up to 80 percent less energy than a standard oven.

  • Upgrade lighting. Advanced LED’s use at least 75 percent less energy and last 25 times longer than incandescent lighting.
