Happy New Year from the City of Brisbane!
2020 Artists' Evening of Sharing
Each year, the City of Brisbane invites local artists to share their work with the Brisbane public at the Artists' Evening of Sharing event, held at Mission Blue Center. At this annual event, Brisbane artists showcase music, theater, dance, images of visual artwork, photography, writing, and film. Honoring Brisbane’s art advocates allows the community to understand the rich diversity and depth of talent that surrounds it and stimulates an exchange of ideas about art. This year's event will take place on Saturday, February 8th, 2020. Admission for the Artists' Evening of Sharing is free, with a complimentary reception at intermission. If you haven't already planned to do so, make sure you come celebrate Brisbane’s creative spirit!

For those interested in showcasing their art at the event:

Artists living or working in Brisbane are invited to present a five minute slide show, video or performance of music, dance, theater or spoken word.

To apply, please send your name, street address, cell phone number, email address, a short description of your presentation, all technical requests, and a bio of 150 words or less, to Beth Grossman at [email protected].

You must be available for a rehearsal on Friday evening, February 7th, 2020 (at assigned 20 minute appointments) and to present in-person on Saturday, February 8th from 7:30-10:30 pm. The deadline to enter is January 5th, 2020.
Artists will be accepted in order of receipt of completed email applications, with preference given to new presenters.

Artists will be notified of their confirmed participation by January 8th, 2020. Please forward this information to any new artists in town.
Changes Coming Soon to San Bruno Ave. @ Bayshore
To improve motorists’ safety at the San Bruno Ave and Bayshore Blvd intersection, beginning on January 8, 2020 at 1pm, no left turns will be allowed from San Bruno Avenue onto Bayshore Boulevard to travel north, except for buses, which in our case is the Commute.org shuttle. Yesterday, signs were placed by the City's contractor, Sierra Traffic Markings, indicating the change to right turns only, including an advanced warning sign at Lake St.

The Complete Streets Safety Committee studied safety improvement options and made recommendations to the City Council after an increase in the number of collisions over the past few years. Council directed staff to prohibit all left turns from San Bruno onto Bayshore, except shuttles.

The Commute.org shuttles pick up and drop off passengers in Crocker Industrial Park and Central Brisbane, and take them to/from the Balboa BART and Bayshore Caltrain stations during morning and evening commute hours. The shuttles are free to residents, and schedules and more information can be found at https://commute.org/shuttles/routes-and-schedules.

Motorists are encouraged to begin modifying their route now, to take San Bruno to Old County Rd, in order to make a safer left turn at a signalized intersection in order to head north.

In the spring of 2020, signs will also be installed on Bayshore at San Bruno Ave. to prohibit U-turns in both the northbound and southbound directions. Cooperation with these modified traffic laws will help make this intersection safer and more efficient.
Water Main Replacement Project - January 6th - 13th
The Water Main Replacement Project is starting on January 6, 2020 on Kings Road (between Humboldt and Margaret).

There are no road closures scheduled for the first week, with residents being able to leave/enter their driveways, but parking restrictions are in place and will be enforced by the City's contractor, JMB. They will be using Firth Park as their main staging area for the duration of the project.

  • Please move your cars off of the road from 8am – 5pm if you are parked near a ‘No Parking’ sign (see above).

  • Please put your garbage out the night before, as pick-ups will be first thing in the morning.

Amazon Hub Locker - Available at Midtown Market
Did you know that instead of delivering a package to your home or business address, you can select an Amazon Hub Locker location and pick up your package at a time that's convenient for you? And Midtown Market is the location of one! Just type in the address “ 249 Visitacion Ave., Brisbane” when you go to checkout to find that specific location and then hit Select. Once your package is delivered, you'll receive an e-mail notification with a unique pickup code that includes the address and opening times for your selected locker location.

When you arrive to collect your package, enter your pickup code or scan the barcode using the barcode scanner and follow the instructions on the screen.

All packages delivered to Amazon Hub Locker must be picked up within three days. If you're not able to collect your package within this timeframe, the package will be returned to us for a refund.

Note: Once you have selected a locker location for delivery, you'll have an opportunity to request a lower locker slot (between 15" and 48" from the ground) during checkout.
