Earlier this week, volunteers gathered at Smith Park to prepare for tomorrow's Build Day for San Gabriel's newest playground! Tomorrow morning and afternoon, hundreds of volunteers will join together to build a new playground in under a day!

Now, here's what's making news for the week of March 13, 2019:
City Council to review temporary street closure
at 400 West Broadway
San Gabriel Mission High School is requesting a temporary street closure for their first annual Spring Boutique on Broadway between Santa Anita Street and Junipero Place on April 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Activities for this event will be held on the school’s property and the street closure will allow participants to walk safely back and forth from the campus to the school’s fields.

Road work on Del Mar Avenue from Hovey Avenue to Chestnut Avenue from now through May 2019
Beginning on March 11, 2019 and through May 2019, roadway rehabilitation will begin on Del Mar Avenue from Hovey Avenue to Chestnut Avenue. During construction, segments of the northbound/southbound traffic lanes on Del Mar Avenue will be closed, though one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Driveway access may be impacted, and no street parking between Hovey Avenue and Chestnut Avenue will be permitted.
Volunteers raising funds for SGPD K9 units
Partners with San Gabriel K9s is a new nonprofit started by volunteers to support the San Gabriel Police Department K9 unit. Independent of the SGPD, Partners with San Gabriel K9s hopes to fund training for police service dogs, administration costs and equipment costs.

Plush versions of K9 Edy and K9 Bently are available for purchase online or at the San Gabriel Police Department. Proceeds from the purchase will support the K9 unit.
