BLUE RAVINE ROAD PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROJECT |
A pavement rehabilitation project on Blue Ravine Road between Prairie City Road and East Bidwell Street is underway. Daytime work takes place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Starting the evening of August 17, nighttime work will occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. The overnight work is expected to last between 6 to 10 non-consecutive nights, depending on production. The project incorporates cold in-place recycling, a timesaving and environmentally-friendly technique for rehabilitating aging and distressed asphalt pavements.
The project will improve the local roadway's rideability, longevity, and safety. It also integrates safety enhancements into the road design, including ADA pedestrian upgrades, radar/video vehicle detection, and upgraded wet-weather reflective striping.
The pavement rehabilitation portion of work will occur during nighttime hours to minimize significant traffic delays and provide construction crews with a safer working environment. The city does not anticipate the road closures will create significant traffic delays, but the work may cause some noise disturbances.
For more information and a current schedule, including which nights work will occur, visit www.folsom.ca.us/BlueRavinePavementProject. Contact the City of Folsom Public Works Department at 916-461-6713 or rchance@folsom.ca.us for questions or concerns.

CITY SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON INCREASED RESIDENTIAL CAPACITY PLAN | |
The City of Folsom is preparing a Subsequent Environmental Impact Report for the 2035 General Plan and Folsom Plan Area Specific Plan and is seeking the community’s input. The main objective is to consider amendments that would increase residential capacity in three specific areas of the city. The targeted areas include the East Bidwell Corridor, the areas near the Glenn and Iron Point light rail stations, and the Folsom Plan Area south of Highway 50.
The report will evaluate the potential environmental impacts of proposed amendments to the 2035 General Plan previously analyzed in an Environmental Impact Report. It provides updated information to ensure informed decision-making and compliance with environmental regulations.
As a first step, the city has drafted a Notice of Preparation and will host a public scoping meeting at 6 p.m. August 17 via Zoom. Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more and provide feedback on the Environmental Impact Report during the 30-day review period, which concludes August 23.
