FOLSOM POLICE RECORDS SERVICES NOW AVAILABLE AT FIRE STATION 34

The Folsom Police Department Records Division now offers an additional service location at Folsom Fire Station 34, located south of Highway 50. Office hours at this new site are 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays through Thursdays, excluding city holidays. Fire Station 34 is located at 3255 Westwood Drive.

During office hours, Records staff can assist with:

• Police report requests
• Citation sign-offs
• Creating calls for service
• Vehicle releases
• Fee acceptance
• Repossessions
• VIN verifications
• Public records requests

The new location provides added convenience for community members in the southern area of the city. These services are for non-emergency needs only. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

SUMMER OF MUSIC CONCERT SERIES WRAPS UP TONIGHT! 

Folsom Parks & Recreation’s Summer of Music concert series is coming to a grand finale tonight, with a high-energy performance by Clean Slate. Known for their mix of R&B hits and dance favorites, Clean Slate will have you on your feet and singing along as we close out the summer season in style.

JOIN THE FOLSOM PUBLIC LIBRARY COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE

The Folsom Public Library will host a community blood drive in partnership with Vitalant on Tuesday, August 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Blood donations are urgently needed and can save lives! The blood drive will be held at the Folsom Public Library, 411 Stafford Street. All donors will receive a special Vitalant donor T-shirt. Register online or call 877-258-4825 and reference blood drive code SMFD327.

SPIRIT OF FOLSOM AWARD TO SPOTLIGHT SERVICE

Do you know someone who has made a big impact in the City of Folsom? The city is now accepting nominations for the Spirit of Folsom Award, an annual recognition program that spotlights community members who have gone above and beyond to serve and improve the Folsom community.

Each Folsom City Councilmember will nominate one recipient from their respective City Council district. Complete the online nomination form by Friday, August 8 to share the story of a deserving individual.

Award recipients will be honored with a certificate at a Folsom City Council meeting. Additionally, their achievement will be displayed at Folsom City Hall and highlighted on the city’s website, newsletter, and social media platforms.

JOIN THE FOLSOM COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM

The Folsom Fire Department invites community members to become a vital part of the city’s emergency response by volunteering with the Community Emergency Response Team.

During major incidents in Folsom and the surrounding areas, CERT volunteers provide critical support to first responders, including firefighters and police officers. They also help educate the community about disaster preparedness and emergency response.

HOW TO JOIN

The first step to becoming a CERT volunteer is to complete the CERT Academy training. This comprehensive program covers:

• Assisting family and neighbors before emergency personnel arrive.
• Disaster preparedness.
• First aid and basic medical operations.
• Light search and rescue techniques.
• Emergency response planning. After completing the training and passing a background check, participants may be eligible to serve as CERT volunteers.

UPCOMING TRAINING DATES

• Thursday, August 28, 6 to 9 p.m.
• Saturday, August 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Saturday, September 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Thursday, September 25, 6 to 9:30 p.m.

THE BEARY BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN

Looking for a wild way to start the day? Breakfast with the Bears at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary offers a one-of-a-kind morning experience. This private rental provides exclusive access to the bear deck before the zoo opens to the public, where guests can sit just inches away from the black bears as they enjoy breakfast on the other side of a glass viewing wall.

Breakfast with the Bears is available on weekends by advance reservation. From May through September, the rental runs from 8 to 9:30 a.m.; in October, March, and April, the time is 9 to 10:30 a.m. The cost is $349 per group.

JUNK JOURNAL JOY WORKSHOP

Turn everyday scraps into something truly special at the Junk Journal Joy Workshop, taking place Wednesday, August 6 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Hosted by Folsom Parks & Recreation, this one-night creative class invites participants to transform junk mail, packaging, and found papers into a one-of-a-kind handmade journal. In addition to building journals using recycled materials, attendees will explore fun and meaningful ways to use them once completed.

Ideal for crafters, writers, memory-keepers, and anyone who enjoys giving new life to old things, the workshop is $40 (or $30 for Folsom residents), with a $5 materials fee due to the instructor at class. A supply list will be provided at registration.

SUPPORT A HOLIDAY TRADITION AT A NIGHT OF THEATRE

Enjoy a special evening in Historic Folsom on Saturday, August 30 for a benefit event featuring a live performance of “Young Frankenstein” by the award-winning Sutter Street Theatre. The Folsom Historic District Association is hosting the event to support Santa’s Christmas Cottage.

Santa’s Christmas Cottage, built in 2024 by the Folsom Rotary Clubs and dedicated community volunteers, has become a favorite attraction during the holiday season in the Historic District Plaza. Proceeds from this event will help fund the cottage’s storage, maintenance, and future programming.
