Parties will be hosted in many Folsom neighborhoods. To see if there is a party in your neighborhood, contact Jessica Hess at 916-461-6516 or [email protected] .

City Joins Residents on NextDoor
The City of Folsom, Folsom Police Department, and Folsom Fire Department have joined Nextdoor, the free private social network designed to bring together neighbors and communities. The city will have the ability to deliver pertinent, localized information directly to residents, such as roadwork notices, storm notifications, and public safety tips.

The platform is already a well-adopted tool in Folsom— 83 neighborhoods have started Nextdoor websites and more than 20,000 residents have joined the network. Residents can sign up for Nextdoor at www.nextdoor.com . To view all the City of Folsom’s public information platforms and social media accounts visit www.folsom.ca.us/communications .
Historic District Parking Solutions Ad Hoc Committee Meeting Thursday
The first meeting of the Historic District Parking Solutions Ad Hoc Committee will be held Thursday, August 8. The 11-member committee will explore possible solutions to alleviate traffic and parking concerns in the residential portions of the Historic District. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.  The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Folsom City Hall (Public Works Conference Room) at 50 Natoma Street.

Community Blood Drive Tomorrow
The Folsom Public Library invites the community to consider donating blood at its summer blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 6. The library is teaming up with Vitalant (formerly Blood Source), the local organization that produces a blood supply for those in need. To meet their current demand, Vitalant must collect 700 pints of blood each day. Since less than 10 percent of Americans donate, the lives of many depend on the generosity of a few. To make an appointment to donate blood, visit www.bloodsource.org/drives and enter the code D327. Call Vitalant at 1-877-258-4825 for more information.
Community Input Needed for Folsom Website Redesign
The City of Folsom website is a primary information source about city programs, services, amenities, events, and resources. A new website is planned w ith a goal to simplify navigation, improve customer service, and be more responsive across all platforms, including desktop and mobile. The website will be redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up. Before we begin our redesign process, we’d like community feedback. Please take a quick survey to tell us a little more about how you use the current website. Your feedback will help us shape how we organize pages and prioritize information. The survey closes on August 25.
Traffic Alert: Intermittent Closures of East Natoma Street Thursday and Friday
Intermittent closures of East Natoma Street will take place between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday, August 8 and 9. The intermittent five-minute closures will affect both eastbound and westbound traffic on East Natoma Street. Motorists who want to avoid delays are encouraged to use alternate routes.

The intermittent closures will allow crews to add permanent lane striping along sections of East Natoma Street between Fargo Way and Prison Road. This is the final phase of the roadway impacts from the construction of the Oak Parkway Trail Undercrossing. The new undercrossing is nearly complete and scheduled to open for public use later this month.

The Oak Parkway Trail Undercrossing is a new addition to Folsom’s recreational trail system. The project includes a tunnel directly under East Natoma Street to provide a seamless and safe route for trail users to transition between the Oak Parkway and Johnny Cash Trails.

For more information about the project, contact City of Folsom Senior Trails Planner Brett Bollinger at [email protected] or call 916-461-6632.
