Community Meetings for Cliff Drive Vision Zero Project

The City of Santa Barbara will provide an update on the Cliff Drive Vision Zero Project at two upcoming community meetings. The first meeting will take place virtually on Wednesday, February 12 and an in-person meeting will take place Thursday, February 13. The Project will enhance connectivity and improve Safe Routes to School for the area’s three elementary schools—McKinley, Monroe, and Washington—as well as Santa Barbara City College.

Spring Break and Summer Camp Registration Now Open


Camp registration is open and filling fast! The Parks and Recreation Department has more than 15 camps to choose from this summer, with topics including art, business, engineering, sports, theater, water safety, and more! Half-day, full-day, and extended care options are available to meet different scheduling needs. Teens can take advantage of the Junior Counselor program and gain important work experience while ensuring younger kids have a great time at camp.

Creek Buffers Ordinance Open House Wednesday


The City has released a Draft Buffer Ordinance for public comment, and will host a Community Open House on Wednesday, February 5. Join the Sustainability & Resilience Department at the Central Library's Faulkner Gallery from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to chat with staff and learn more about the proposed ordinance. Community members are invited to review the draft and submit comments through Monday, March 10.

New City Hall Gallery Exhibition


Join us on 1st Thursday, Feb. 6, from 5–7 p.m. for the opening reception Tides of Time: Collaboration with the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, the new City Hall Gallery exhibition. This exhibition includes historical photographs of the development of the Santa Barbara Harbor, which is one of the last working harbors in the state. The show also includes photos from Our Channel Islands by Ernest H. Brooks II, who is renowned for his innovative underwater photography techniques.

During the January 28, 2025, City Council meeting, City Administrator Kelly McAdoo addressed recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in Santa Barbara. She acknowledged the resulting fear among residents, especially within undocumented communities, and emphasized that the City does not participate in immigration enforcement.
